Coffee Question???
How many of you still drink coffee?
What Kind? and How Much?
I was a big coffee drinker before surgery. And I really need a cup in the morning, but my surgeon has band it for life. I do however have a cup of decafe (even though there is still caffein in it).
So am I going to hell for drinking a cup of decafe a day???
Your opinions please......
Hey there,
Yeppers, I am supposed to be banned for life myself, and with the exception of this one thing I am completely compliant with my surgeon....but I do have 2 - 12 oz cups of coffee in the AM....
Ok, really what I do is have the coffee cooled, over ice, with my protien and this is essentially breakfast. My doc doesnt' know that I do this, but he said that my "protien values" are some of the best he has seen. I am healthy and happy, no pouch pain...so I don't feel badly. Now if I did have pain, I would get off of the caffiene, but it would be difficult.
JMHO.....

i'm not banned for life from coffee.. my surgeon just wants us to understand that should we choose to drink caffeinated beverages, we'll be at a higher risk for dehydration. so - match what you drink in caffeine, with a non-caffeinated drink and you should be all set.
i drink an iced coffee every morning. half/half and 3 splenda. sometimes i splurge and get one at night, but depending on how i've behaved, it may be a decaf.
I still drink it (I also still take pepcid daily although not required anymore). My nutritionist feels its OK for us.
My morning ritual is shower, breakfast, drive to work while drinking 8 oz of warm milk with nestle carb control hot chocolate, get 16 oz coffee to sip on for the early morning. If I'm doing field work, I stop at speedway and get the 24 oz cup with 4-6 oz of their 'steamers' added.
Occasionally I'll drink a decaf iced cafe americano from Starbucks in the afternoon (or on really hot days, it replaces my morning hot coffee when I'm in the field) but that's once a week or less. Other than that, I'm drinking water or SF kool aid.
