Is pouch stretching a bit at 4 mths post-op???
Hi everybody...we are coming up on our 4 month post-ops...yippee for us.
I will be 4 mths this Friday and I have lost 77 pounds so far. I have 16 pounds to go until I reach my goal, I have already passed my surgeons goal alreay...I am where she thought I would be at 1 year out!!!
Anyways, I am noticing that I "feel" hunger now and I actually look forward to eating my next meal. The taste buds are good again. But, I also notice that I can surely eat more than I have since surgery...and that the good ole pouches stretch a bit on their own around now...so...are you eating more? Do yopu still measure?
I am a soup and salad kind of gal now, so, I eat about 1 cup of soup and a salad plate full of salad fixings.
I surely NEED to get more protein in and I am trying so hard, but it is difficult when we have been at a hotel almost a month now waiting for our house to close. We just bought our first new home
What are you eating and how much protein do you get from it?

Naaahhh. Your pouch isn't stretching. It is made from the toughest muscle-part of your old stomach. It would take a long time of eating WAY too much to stretch it. (per the dr.) The swelling from surgery is going down finally and it is taking on the shape it will have permanently. I do know that the stoma (the opening to the intestines) can stretch and cause your pouch to empty too quickly, letting you eat more. So, we need to be careful about that.
I love soup! I still can't stand the smell/taste of unflavored protein powder, or I would add it to my soup. So gross, though! Do you eat meat on your salad? Congrats on the new home! I bet you can't WAIT to get in there! Woohoo! moving is great exercise.
I still measure sometimes with my little scale. I'm getting good at eyeballing, but I have found that if I don't put the right amount on my plate, I will want to finish the plate. It is hard for me to leave food on the plate.
Your loss is so amazing! I wish i was doing that well. How tall are you?
Amy,
I am noticing I do get hungry now and that I can eat more. If the food is dense I can eat less if it is not I can eat more. I can eat a small bowl of salad with chicken and cheese on it without any problem. Then I follow that with some fruit.
I really do not have much trouble eating anything other than sugar which I can not have at all.
It feels like I am eating a lot more but when I look at how much I am really it it is not that much.
