In need of reassurance

I know you guys will understand this. I lost 15 pounds before surgery. I am now 4 months post-op and have lost an additional 50 pounds. I only lose 1-2 pounds a week and that frustrates me. I don't have weeks where I lose more, and I don't have weeks where I lose less (although this one might turn out like that). Back when I was dieting pre-op, I would lose at the same rate. I'm not understanding why my body is working this way. I get in maybe 1000 calories a day, sometimes 1200. Doesn't your body need at least that to function normally? If I am using more calories than I'm taking in (exponentially) I want to know why I'm not losing more, or losing differently. Sometimes I eat more calories in a day and less the next day, just to keep the body guessing so it won't hold onto the fat, but that isn't working. I get 90oz of water a day and 80-100g of protein a day. I exercise 3x a week. I know rationally that I should stop looking at everyone else's loss. I know we are all different. Maybe it is a trade-off. In exchange for never throwing up or getting sick from any foods, I will have to lose slower. I'm just feeling down about it. Thanks for any words of wisdom or "pick-me-ups" that you have. Jenn (254)239/189/145

Jenn- Girl, you are doing great!!! I lost the same as I basically did pre op too - the one difference is that if I did want to pig out, I could. You can't do that now so your loss will be consistent. I have gone weeks and not had a loss so you are doing very well. This will work. My weight loss has increased recently because I bumped my exercise up to 5 days per week. You may want to try that if you can. Just remember your body still thinks you are starving it. It is reluctant to give up the weight because it thinks it is trying to protect you You are to be commended for all the good things you are doing (protein, water, etc). I can relate because patience is not my best virtue either, but it WILL happen. You are too determined for it not too Congratulations - relax and enjoy the ride Denise

No worries, I am in the same boat as you are. But the main thing is that we ARE losing..slowly but surely!! We will get there! I think that if I was to exercise more I would lose more, but it is still working regardless, it is better than gaining everyday! Dawnya

You are doing a great job! 1-2 lbs a week is still a loss, no matter how you look at it. Its still coming off...slowly, but surely! Keep doing what you're doing, and it will keep on coming off!!!

as of today my total loss is 65 lbs....that's pre op and post op....at no other time in history have i lost 65 lbs in almost 4 months....that averages out to just over 16 lbs a month.... when i told my surgeon last month that i wish i had lost more, he called me greedy...i had to laugh, yeah i am greedy..... we are all doing great..... i wish i was 189 like you....but today i weighed in at an even 200....i had hoped to have lost 100 lbs by 6 months, but i don't see myself losing 40 lbs in 2 more months, so i'll be happy with what i get....and hope to reach my goal of 130 by my 1 year.... good luck to you Ruth Ann 265/200/130

So we have lost the same amount. I guess I was under the impression that surgery would help me lose faster than I could with Solely diet and exercise. I guess not.

Hey...me too!!! I have been stuck for 2 weeks on the same weight and freaking out!!! My weight loss is very very slow. Only 59 pounds pre and post op. It kind of makes me feel like I have failed this too. I know I can increase my exercise....and I am working towards that. The good think with loosing so slow....MY HAIR IS NOT FALLING OUT!!!! (yet) Where else can we loose 50 - 60 pounds in 3.5 months. I have to keep telling myself that.

Hey Jenn, Don't worry....you are doing exactly what you are supposed to be doing. Remember, You are a lightweight and we lose slower than others but tend to get to goal faster. You only have 46 pounds to goal!!! Check out the lightweights board if you haven't already. I never throw up or get sick either. I'm down a total of 64#s, so I'm right with ya! Cc (255)250/191/130

I know what you are saying!!! I have lost a total 54 pounds pre and post op. I lose about a pound a week right now. I have joined a local gym and feel really good about that. If you look at percentages of weight lost that helps!! Today I have lost 50% of my excess weight!!!!! Half way there!!!! Keep the faith it will come off!!!!!
