New here
Hi I am new to this board, I usually watch the Ohio board, but felt i would like to see how others were doing who had April surgeries... Mine was Apr 17. I'm down 68 pounds. Still having some trouble eating.. can't stand the taste of Protein powders or liquids, so I'm kind of in a pickle there.. struggle with fluids, but I do feel better when I get them all down. I had to start Iron suplement. But I am off my blood pressure meds (at 3 weeks) And my pressure has been lowerd on my c-pap. And now that I am past 3 mo I am off my reflux meds... SO that is all great! My knees and hips don't hurt and I have started walking in the last month. I think my asthma is better.
I was in a size 22 at surgery and bought size 14 jeans last weekend! I walked into a meeting for work and a guy I hadn't seen since Dec didn't regognize me.... weird.
I don't think I look that different.
I have 50 more pounds to go to get to my 140 goal. I hope to keep up 10 pounds a month now to make it by Christmas.....!!???
Any "how to choke down protein" tips would be appreciated... can't eat steak, chicken or pork chops, I can do ground beef and seafood.
Blessings,
Pam

Welcome to the group....there are several of us who had surgery on the 17th...I am down 63 lbs so we are just about the same.....
I do a protein bar with a minimum of 15 grams of protein in it 1 or 2 times per day.....most of the bars i have actually have 20 grams in it....a 3 oz can of tuna has 21 oz's of protein as does 3 oz's of any meat/seafood that you can eat.
Congrats on the success you've had so far.

I drink atkins advantage from a can royal choclate & i put a scoop of any whey in it & some sugar free choc syrup in it & ice & blend it makes it taste like choc milk i drink one every am it has 38 grams of protein in at so that helps me,i can just about eat anything i blend up my porkchops it helps & chicken also.I can not eat pasta tho or breads yet .welcome to the boards
Welcome April Buddy:
Congratulations on you great success - keep up the good work - feels so good when people compliment you hey Like you I don't think I look that different but I'm getting remarks every day now it seems.
I had my surgery on Apr 18/06 and have lost 63.5 lbs since surgery and 99 lbs from my highest weight - just one more lb to go before the century club!! I'm only 5'1" so I was in size 26-28 pants at my heaviest and size 3-4X & 26 shirts. I'm now in a size 14 - 18 pants and 18-20 shirts. It's hard to believe we can change so much in 3 mths. My initial goal is 150 but 130 would be better so I've got another 50-60 lbs to go. I'd love to get in my wedding dress by my anniversay (25 years) in Oct - I doubt it but I can hope - I think I was around 150 then????can't remember to long ago.
This is a great bunch on here - so supportive of each other and will answer any questions you have.
I'm one of the lucky ones I guess cause I can eat almost anything - not so sure that is a good thing if you know what I mean. I've had some episodes of throwing up like the beginnings of a stricture????But I am waiting until my holidays are over - go in a few days before seeing the doc about it. I've talked to him and he doesn't think it's a stricture but will have to scope to find out for sure.
I have trouble getting in all my fluids for sure and I probably don't get enough protein either.
Anyway - welcome
Carolyn
Hey Pam! Thanks for moseyin' on over here. My surgery was the 17th too! I'm down 50 pounds since surgery, but 65 pounds total. I've got 45 more pounds to go before I hit my goal. The surgeon never gave me a goal, but just said that the high end of a normal BMI for me would be 154. So, naturally, I made my goal lower than that.
Welcome!
