Question - Anyone have this problem?

Hi, I had my lap RNY done in April. I had issues with a stricture and then things calmed down. But this past week, I've had pain on my left side, under my ribcage, sometimes extending to my back. I had an appt last week with my surgeon, but he's on vacation this week. I see my PCP on Sat, but the pain is getting to me so I called the GI dr that did my scopes for my stricture. He is not in, but they left a message for him to call me. Has anyone experienced anything like this? The pain is making me nauseous too. Any advice would help me! Thanks, Sue

Sue, I had pain on the left side at my stitches side after I tried to move a bookcase. Stupid Huh? Also, I had pain on my left and back early on every time I ate something, so I was sure it was related to my tummy. I wish I knew the answer. Maybe a trip to the ER if the nauseau and pain doesn't subside or becomes intollerable. Kim M.

Thanks for your response, Kim. The GI dr called me back this morning and told me to continue to take the Tylenol as needed. If the pain persists, he says I might need an ultrasound to rule out a kidney stone. The funny thing is that the pain was minimal when I was talking to him and it started up again later. I have an appointment with my PCP tomorrow and my surgeon returns on Monday, so hopefully I can get some relief from one of them. I am hesitant to go to the ER since I was admitted 3 times for vomiting back in June and July, so I guess I'll play it by ear until tomorrow. Sue

Do you still have your gall bladder?? Could be that.

Hi Cheryl, I still have my gall bladder, but I didn't think it was that because I thought pain from that was on the right side....my pain is all on my left side. I will discuss with my PCP tomorrow tho. Sue
