I am 3 months out and my hair has started to fall out. I drink 32 grams of protien and try to get the rest in with my meals. Does anyone have any idea what I can do.

Are you taking your 5000 mg of Biotin each day???? My doctor had me start Biotin 1 month after surgery. Mind you, I have only lost 50 pounds in 2.5 months...and it has not started falling out yet. But maybe the biotin is helping after all???? Just a thought.

From what I have gathered, there is nothing you can do. No even Biotin. The consolation is that it will grow back. I noticed mine starting to fall out last week. I am three months out tomorrow.

Now I am worried mine will start falling out. I thought maybe I missed that bandwagon, but at 3 months next week, I guess it still might happen. I guess I will wait for that haircut afterall!

yes oh yes mine is to !!I tried to take Biotin but did not notice any change but I can tell you it made me grow face hair !! I could not belive it so I stopped & bought some hair removal cream that was not good at all! so I just try & take protein & hopes that helps if not i will be getting a hair cut soon .

My hair is falling out by the handfull. I have to clean the shower drain every single day or the water starts to back up. I clean my brush every day now too. I hate it! I even take Biotin every day, but it isn't helping. It get at least 80g of protein a day. Oh well, hope the Biotin at least helps the new hair grow in faster!

My hair falls out in big clumps. I have real thick, curly hair... so my hair always fell out even before this process! I only bru**** when its wet, because dry I can't even get a brush through it! I read a lot of things online and it seems like it happens to a lot of people, and it stops eventually! Guess I dont need to pay the hair dresser to thin out my hair anymore -Emily 293/231/145 04/05/06

So far I haven't started losing my hair. I am not taking biotin, and I am not good with vitamins, and only "okay" with my protein. I figure if it starts to fall out, then I will get a short hair cut. I read an article that said it had to do with the shock and starvation that occurred and it takes a few weeks to affect the hair, but that it just has to complete the cycle. It will grow back. Best of luck, Val

Three months is about when it starts. I'm losing mine as well. And as a 40 year old guy who was already thinning, this does not make me happy! But as a hairdresser, I do know that this is a result of the shock of surgery. The growth cycle is three months or so. It should stop in a few months. I have seen my clients who have had other surgeries go through the same thing, so it is not necessarily wls related. We will still have hair!
