Medical bills

I am really grateful I had the surgery and I am more than willing to pay for it but OUCH. My co-pays are rolling in with it all due now and I am feeling the pain. I have a flexspending account which I intended to us but I had other medical bills earlier this year which ate it up. So now I have a lot due and I'm trying to pull it out of the air. The largest part is the hospital. I have most of the other paid off or will this week but still I am doing the budget dance over ALall this. Anyway, I just needed to vent. Like all things we want in life you just got to pay the bills. Terrie 366/315/goal 165 www.obesityenders.com

I freaked out the other day when I received a bill for $5000 from my surgeon. I called their office to find out why as my surgery should have been covered 100%. They said that my insurance denied it. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! So I called Aetna to find out what was going on and it would appear that everything was denied!!!!! All $38,000 of it, because someone forgot to take my claim off pending and put it on approved!!!! I just about crapped my pants! Long story short...it is all cleared up and my insurance has paid 100% of everything, including physc. eval, nutritionist, therapy, etc.... Aetna HMO has been wonderful and I am very blessed to have this all paid for with no cost to me out of pocket!

My total out of pocket is running about $1,600.00 for surgery expenses. Which is a lot to come up with but less that what I have been spending every year in out of pocket expenses for problems the surgery will help get rid of! Terrie 366/314/ goal 165 www.obesityenders.com

My out of pocket thus far has been $15,000 so I guess it is all relative. I work fora corporation that owns 7 hospital, yet they have a detailed rider in their employees' Carefirst BCBS policies that denies coverage for this and anything related to obesity. So I took money out of my IRA since I wasn't going to make it to retirement to spend it anyway. I'm still waiting for the final bill from the hospital to see if there is anything I still owe them. I already know that it will "only" be $1000 or $2000 more. Dotsie
