I am not really in that low carb "everything" mentality....I would like to try bread and pasta. Do you eat it? How much? What kind? Amy

I don't do very well with bread unless it is toasted. As far as pasta, I do okay, but I can only eat a very small amount. I had my first dumping experience with spaghetti, and it was really awful. However I did eat ravaloi from a can and I did okay. I believe it is different for everyone, so try and see what happens. However, I would try at home just in case. Hope this helps Brenda

I am afraid to eat bread, because one I LOVE IT and two because if it stays in my belly ok I am liable to eat it all the time! But I have eaten a bit of pasta like a few noodles less than 1/3 of a cup of say spaghetti and then it was whole wheat noodles. As I type I am eating part of a lean ham lunchable with ritz crackers so I will eat 2-3 of them and I have eaten reduced fat wheat thins.

Personally I feel that "white carbs" are the devil. Even if you can keep them down, or dont dump, why take the empty cals? Especially since our window of weight loss opportunity is 12-18 months? Carbs make you hungrier quicker. Get complex carbs from fruit and veggies.

I stay away from bread, pasta and rice. I try to concentrate on proteins and veggies after that so the carbs are just wasted food to me. My surgeon told me that they track the food of the patients and the ones that cut way back on carbs lost more. I have also heard that newly post op people sometimes can have a hard time with bread because it doughs up in your pouch.

I eat whole grain bread in small amounts as the last part of my meal with Hummus. I have found it helps with bowel movements. I also eat fruit and salad. So I start with protien, eat veggies then fruit then bread. After that I could not eat much if I wanted too. I do have to be careful with bread. It has always made me crave more even if it is whole grain. I have not had pasta and I have no real desire for it. I am at the point where I am able to eat more at once and stay full longer. Still I am only eating about 1/2 cup total. At last I am able to drink wait 30 mins, eat then wait 1 hour then drink so I am getting in the water I need. In the evening I have milk instead of water to up my calcium. Terrie 366/321/goal 165

I have been craving carbs something terrible the past week or so, and I have to admit I have tried bread and pasta, no rice yet. I am a little afraid of the rice from what other's have said. The bread I had was whole grain toasted (with butter -see craving). I think looking back, except for the times I have put one or two teaspoons on my plate, and eaten them after protein, all the carbs I have eaten have made me feel kind of "stuck." In my current state of mind I am eating too many carbs, so I think it is time to kick them out of my diet again. Good Luck to you! Heidi L-S

I eat whole wheat bread a couple times a week and some whole wheat pasta once a week or less. I haven't tried regular pasta yet (probably won't either), White rice I stay away from normally and haven't felt like brown rice yet. I did have some baked potato with dinner the other night...took me 3 or 4 meals to fini**** and I probably won't have it again for a few weeks. Melissa
