Plateau - Maybe
I am way ahead of myself. And overly annoyed. I may have hit a plataeu and I DON'T like it. I know from reading others that it is normal, that it happens to pretty much everyone at some time or other and that it will pass, but emotionally I am still panicking. Tuesday I was only down 1 pound from the week before, Wednesday I was up 2 pounds, and becaus I was so freaked out I weighed again today and thank goodness it was back down to Tuesday's weight. I have had 7 weeks of 6-7 pound losses, so this was a surprise and I am a little freaked out how emotionally I'm reacting. I know it is Ok, but I needed to share with someone who would understand how fragile this weight loss feels.
Thanks for listening everyone! God Bless! Heidi L-S
I've hit not one but TWO plateaus since surgery 8 and a half weeks ago. The first one, I felt like you do. I panicked inside (played it cool on the outside). We lose so fast at first that the sudden STOP is just naturally cause for a freak out. But hang in their...this too shall pass!

I hit my first plateau the beginning of my third week!
Since then, I've found that I only lose 2 weeks of each month.
It was frustrating at first, but I'm over it now!
I've come to grips that this isn't a race.
I'm down 48 pounds and pleased with the progress. I figure this is a life altering procedure and so, I've really got the rest of my life to take all the excess weight off.
Hey Heidi,
Remember, too, that your body needs time to adjust. The emotions come FROM the weight loss, not just psychologically, but PHYSIOLOGICALLY, too. Your body is releasing lots of estrogen with every pound you lose. So while the loss slows a little, your brain sees it, and then you have the added fun of some hormones piled on to make it worse.
I am not a fan of the word plateau -- plateau for me says something that lasts for a while, a couple of weeks or a month. Stall is a better word, it's a very temporary setback. I think I stalled earlier this month, too, lost nothing for a week, even, like you, gained some. Then the next week, that was gone plus some.
You might change up your exercise routine as well. I was doing nothing but walking (30-45min a day, maybe 1-2 miles) for a few days, and losing very little, (maybe 1.5-2lbs this week, as opposed to that in two days) then yesterday I went to the gym and hit the elliptical machine (which people tell me is suicide, but I like it) and this morning was down over 2lbs out of nowhere.
Or maybe you have a "visitor" coming, too and retain water which will slow you way down. (if this is the case, when it's done, the weight loss after is fun cause it just falls off again. )
At any rate, don't let it get you down. As Lisa said, it will pass. Your body CANNOT hold onto the weight.

Julie, VERY well said! I like "stall" better too. I only lose 2 out of 4 weeks a month, and then only 1-2 pounds. I am so wishing that I could stay off the scale but for once a month, but I don't have that kind of willpower. I know I'm shrinking and I just wish that the scale would keep up with the measuring tape!
I'm in loose 16s and I just got into a Large t-shirt today! Whoop!
My weight is constantly going up and down and stalling. it's like i'm stuck at the SAME weightloss for weeks now. Then when i do lose again, its' like ok, i'm just back to what I was before I gained. I'm freaking out and on the verge of getting hydroxycut or something to boost my non-exsistent metabolism.
