Question about food?
Hello All
I saw that many of you have had surgery the same date as me and you are eating lettuce and such.
I was told I could not have raw fruit or veggies until the 6 month mark?
I am just wondering if you have been told the same thing, or is it ok?
I WOULD LOVE A SALAD !!!!! Or some lettuce on my wrap!
Thanks
Yes, each surgeon has different expectations for their patients....
at 4 weeks post-op I was "okayed" to eat anything and everything I wanted. My doctor told me to not hold back on trying anything, just to see what I can and cannot tolerate. I have eaten several salads since 1 month post-op Just gotta chew really good!

Mine said after 6 weeks but I did at 5. I've been eating softer greens though like spinach. I've tried a raw carrot but I couldn't chew it to the consistency we're supposed to so I spit it out. Actually I think it was growing in my mouth..lol.
The salads I make are usually just baby spinach, boiled egg, shredded cheese, and low fat ranch dressing. I just LOVE the combo w/the ranch dressing. Sometimes I'll put grilled chicken or grilled salmon/tuna. I've also had McDonalds Asian Salad (the mandarin oranges, snowpeas & the low-fat sesame ginger dressing are YUMMY) and Wendys Spinach Chicken Salad is very good too.
The paperwork I was given after surgery said "NO RAW VEGETABLES FOR 6 WEEKS". When I went in for my three week check up, I mentioned to my surgeon that I was dying for a salad. He said I could eat them, provided I used shredded lettuce and chooped any other added veggies into very small pieces. That same day, I had a salad and I had no problems with it.
