my first plateau
I know some of you have been here. In my head I'm telling myself that this too shall pass, but my heart is in a panic... I've hit my first plateau and this is where in any normal diet I would give up. I keep telling myself that I've lost 34 pounds in 5 weeks and my body has to adjust. I know I'm losing inches because I started in a size 26 and am now in a size 20. this is a huge accomplishment in 5 short weeks so I know I have to give myself a break. I'm doing everything right, I drink my water and I exercise and I'm eating my three meals a day.
How long does a plateau usually last?
Hi Darla, my plateau lasted about 2 1/2 weeks. It was very frustrating and discourging. I did hang in there and I stopped stepping on the scale every day. That is not a good thing. I waited about another 10 days stepped back on the scale and surprise I lost 5 pounds. I was so excited. Hang in there, keep doing the protein, the fluids (actually if you can increase them a little), and most importantly exercise. This will pass. Do not give up.
Good Luck,
Deanna
Oh Darla I have felt your pain! I lost quickly for the first 2.5 weeks and then I ground to a halt. I stalled for about 2 weeks before my nutritionist put me on a plan and boom, I am losing again. During my stall I went back and read thru posts on the February and March surgery boards too and it seems that 95% of people hit a stall somewhere between 2 weeks and 6 weeks out. Most were stalled for a week or two and then started losing again.
I hope this is a short bump in the road for you!
Darla,
big (((HUGS))) to you...I know these plateaus can be frightening.
I have had stalls in my weight l;oss each week for the past three weeks. I will not lose anything for about 5 days and all of a sudden boom...4-5 pounds gone overnight. As long as it keeps coming off I cannot get too frustrated, but it does scaire me when days go by with no results on the scale!
Keep your chin up girl, those pounds and inches will continue to fall off of you for a very long time yet!
Amy
I'm just going to agree with what everyone else has said. Just keep on doing what you're doing, it will start up again. I hit my first plateau at about 2 weeks out, and it was so discouraging. But then you wake up one morning, and you're down 2 or 3 more pounds. I will say to limit your weigh ins to once a week. If you weigh every day, its too frustrating, especially if you have any water weight gain...ugh!
Good luck to you and hang in there, the scale will start to move again!
