I have yet to try any of these but i'm craving them like crazy.... I pretty much eat what I want (within reason) and have had no issues with the food...i've had chili, and today for lunch i had the inside of a soft taco from taco bell minus the lettuce...it wasnt all i had dreamt about lol.... thanks rose 422/375/175/148 surgery/current/my goal/drs goal

Hi Rose! Hotdog is not the "best" source of protein, but if you can eat protein, it is OK to have one. As it is more processed it goes done pretty well, just remember to chew!!! I had a 1/2 a brat at my Mom's last weekend. It went down fine. I have also had pizza. I think I ate too fast and therefore a little too much, but otherwise it went down well. I did not enjoy it that much, so it is now on my temp "do not like" list! That's happening with a whole heck of alot of my craved foods though. Once I try them, They are out of my system, at least for now! You are definitely not alone with the craving! Take Care, Heidi L-S 354/ 342 Surgery Day/323-3 weeks/????Current/ Goal 165

My surgery was 04/18/06. Had 3 small bites of a hot dog with mustard and pickle relish (no bun)from Costco (Hebrew Nat'l) and chewed to pureed consistancy. Took about 10 minutes and it was wonderful. No repercussions. Had Bacon, 1 slice cooked crisp. chew, chew, chew and chew somemore. Taste great. No repercussions. Haven't worked up my nerve to try pizza toppings yet. Had 2Tbsp of marinara sauce with ground meat and mushrooms at 4 weeks out, it tasted wonderful going down. Then it sat there in my new pouch Heavy and not moving, an hour later, one sip of water joined it, they shook hands and had a party, no foamies, didn't dump, just really wanted to do either or both. It finally went on through and I was fine the next day, don't want to try that again any time soon. Since we are all different you may not have the same results. You will only know how any food will react to your new tummy by trying it, go really slow, take small bites, chew it to bits and wait long enough for it to get down before you take another bite. Good luck. Have a wonderful weight loss journey.

hey Rose! Glad to see you back online I've been scared to try new things but gradually gaining confidence. I've tried bites of this and that. I've had the fat free hotdogs w/hot dog chili sauce, mustard, and low carb ketchup. It was yum. But not a whole lot of protein. About 8 grams. As for bacon, I've had turkey bacon. It was a little greasy.. didn't make me sick but just kind of felt blah. Haven't tried pizza yet....too scared for that Keep in touch and let me know how you're doing! April

I haven't tried a hot dog yet, but I think I will be having one sometime today. I know that they are not the best source of protein, but I buy a very good brand so I feel that it is not as bad as it could be. My daughter was eating sausage pizza in front of me the other day and I caved... I took a bite of her pizza and it tasted so good, but that is all I wanted. Just one bite. It is so nice to be able to taste a craving and be satisfied with one bite. Most mornings I have a slice of crispy bacon. Some mornings I can eat it just fine, and other mornings it just seems too greasy. I blot all of the grease from it, but sometimes it just isn't enough. I am having a really hard time with breakfast food. I haven't found anything that I really enjoy and that works for my pouch. Cream of wheat, oatmeal, and scrambled eggs just won't work. Wish I could find something. Mostly I just have a protein drink, but that is getting really old - I guess my tastes are changing. I almost can't gag one down. Kari 311/265/150

My surgery was Apr 18/06 and I was on solids just 2 weeks out. I did have a little pizza at about 3 weeks maybe - chewed very well - it wasn't loaded just ham and pineapple and cheeze but no problems. I had a few bites first then later had a very small piece. Was so good. Haven't had any since as this will be a treat thing when I'm really craving. My surgeon says try healthy things to see how they work. Good luck Carolyn

I haven't been brave enough to try a hot dog yet. I bought some turkey dogs, and fixed those for the kids, MAN they looked good, but I have't gotten the nerve to try one. I haven't tried bacon yet either, I think turkey bacon would be okay? I did try a piece of thin n crispy pizza...it tasted divine, but it made my pouchy very upset. Won't try that one again for awhile. Also had a craving for a cheeseburger, so I tried a 1/2 of a small burger, took the top bun off, and it did NOT taste like I dreamed it would...I was so disappointed, but its a good thing. That's just those taste-buds changing!!
