Lin, First of all congrats on the weight loss you did have? That is 20 pds gone forever. Second you did not put it on overnight, Third you are not alone. I too am hitting a plateu i am 7 weeks out and lost 40 pds so far but havent lost a single pound this week at all..... I have a friend that had this surgery 2 years ago and she told me yesterday that it is normal it will happen often but then you will start to lose again.....so hang in there just remember we are all going to go through this but we should be glad we have each other to help us through it hang in there we will get through it, one small baby step at a time. hugs and love lisa

I am 5.5 weeks out and at 26.5 lbs. It has been so low and this week I think I have gone up and down so much I don't know if it is a true weight or not. I am also suffering with horrible constipation, so am going to drink some prune juice today or eat a couple of prunes. I have been on pureed foods since day one after surgery, and my opinion it is way too soon to do foods. I have a lapband and then had a revision on 4/18 to a RNY, and he left the band in. I know my pouch is bigger and that doesn't help, think the band should have been removed, however, there is no turning back now. I am eating approximately 4-6 oz per meal and three meals per day only. I eat one packet of low sugar oatmeal in the morning to try to get the fiber (120 cals), but it is not doing anything for me. Lunch is 2-3 oz of meat and 1-2 oz of veggie. I try to figure my calorie intake all the time and it runs 500 to 800 so I know I should lose. Compared to what I used to take in, plus the bypass portion of this surgery I thought that what went in came out quickly without being absorbed. I am finding that is not the way it is for many people. I go for my 6 wk on June 1st and have lots of questions for my doctor. I know it is hard to accept where so many have lost 40+ lbs in just as many weeks. However, the more you have to lose the faster most do lose on the front end. I know I wanted to be one of those people at in 3-4 months had 100 lbs off them, but I can see that will not be, so maybe slow is better. the skin won't sag as bad (lol) Try to walk everyday, if you don't burn up more then you take in it is bound to be harder. The people that are areally successful seem to do that exercise no matter what. I am swimming 3-5 days a week and walk as much as I can, but I also have lots of pain all the time. I knew this was not going to be easy, but I am trying to stay positive and focused this is a complete life time change, Rome was not built in a day. If you stay true to working the plan no matter how slow, IT WILL WORK. We all would like a magic wand to be waved and lose 5-10 lbs a week, but it is not realistic or healthy. Most people that lose that large amount on the front end have lots of fluid in the fat cells, the the cells still have to burn up and that is when it gets harder, however, some of us have solid fat cells and so it is tough right from the get go. Just hang in there this will pass and you will be seeing that scale move downward again.
