Well it has been 6 weeks for me ,last week I went in for my check up and 20 pounds is it? I am hungry.....I do not eat much but I cannot walk either last week I was in pain and had to go see a orthopedice surgeon for my knee.It was either surgery or nothing ..or a shot in the knee.I was in tears.. I did go for the shot of cortizone.Wow did it help.....But I am afraid to walk at all. My diet hasnt changed ,seems like 1/4 cup isnt enough for me.I know it is slow. I haven gotten sick at all no vomiting or the dumping... Feed back again is appreciated. Lin In Ca

Hi Lin, It sounds like you're really discouraged... and I'm sure I would be too but just remember that it's taken you years to get back to the weight you are from your stapling in '92. I really know nothing about revisions but maybe the weight loss isn't as drastic in the first month as first timers . Did you talk to your surgeon about it when you went for your check up? I'll be 4 weeks out this Thursday and I'm eating at least 1/4 cup, sometimes a little more. I've been eating soft/semi-solids for 7 days now and I've never felt that "full" feeling. I know I could eat more if I let myself. And that scares me. According to my Dietary Instruction Book, at 6 weeks out, I'll be able to hold 4-6 ounces of solid food per meal/4 times per day. So maybe you're really not eating enough @ 1/4 cup. Are you still limited to 1/4 cup at a meal? Also if you're not getting your recommended protein and not getting enough calories, you will not lose. Does your surgeon have a nutritionist that you could talk to? Just try to hang in there and do the best you can. I hope you're able to get up and moving soon.

Hi Lin, I am in the same boat as you, no loss recently. I have a total one month loss of 24 pounds, but that was all in the first 2.5 weeks. I have been stuck at the same weight now for almost 2 weeks. I had my one month post-op appt with both my nutritionist and my surgeon today and I was almost in tears telling them how discouraged I was to be so stuck. I am also still really, really tired all the time, even after a B12 injection. After going over all my food journals and what I do each day, how much sleep I get, etc they have come to the conclusion that I am running my body down to the point that it is shutting down. I have to get my calories up to 800-950 a day (avg 600 right now) and I am supposed to stop exercising for a few weeks, and make sure I sleep. My incisions are not all healed on the inside so my body needs the food to fuel the healing, and also rest to heal. So, I am basically back on light duty living for awhile and need to try and get more in at meals. I know how frustrating it is and I hope your able to get some answers or start dropping soon. My thoughts are with you.

Hi Amity, I'm glad they told you to increase your calorie intake. It really does make a difference. When you're not getting enough, your body tries its best to hold on to what it can so not losing much is usually a sign that you're not eating enough or getting enough of what you need. Do they also have you on B12 sublingual? When I started taking them once a day, it made a HUGE difference in how I felt and my energy level. I wish you much success in your new eating/losing! Lisa V

Hey Lisa, I have really been working hard to get those calories up! LOL Sounds so weird to say that. I really need to scour these posts and get some ideas though because I am having a hard time finding low fat, low carb, high protein options to get in the calories I need to get too. I do the B-12 injection and had it last friday. I still havent noticed a difference though, I am super tired all the time still.

I am right with you all! My weight loss for the last 2 weeks has been 3 lbs! And I have started to "gain" weight. It is my time of the month and I have a BM once a week (with help). I called my doctor and I was told that I needed to get more calories in. I am trying but so many things are not agreeing with me. The last couple days I have been only on protein shakes trying to settle my stomach down. Hours of foamies and dry heaves just makes me so tired.

I haven't had that problem, except for a few days at a time, but I am eating in between 400 - 500 calories a day, I also exercise 3 - 4 days a week. I just got cleared to start weight lifting so I have been doing that also. They did tell me that I would slow down because I have lost so much weight so quickly (54 pounds in 6 1/2 weeks). They warned me not to get too discouraged if I stop losing for awhile. Try to stay positive and the weight will come off. If has to, we aren't eating enough to stay "fat". Try using fitday.com. It really works for me and helps me keep track of my food and liquid intake, also my nutrition (because you put in your vitamins), activities you do, and your weight!! I love it!! It helps me keep on track! Take care and stay positive!!!! Becki

Are you having joint or tendon issues in your knee? If joint I have seen great results with oral hylaronic acid- daily as an alternative to injections. It can help ease discomfort during the "remodleing" period, but obviously if the joint integrity is failing you will need stronger measures soon enough. Just my two cents

I'm in the same boat as you all. I had my surgery 4/17 and I'm a little over a month out and only lost about 21 pounds. I've been at the same weight for the last week and if there's any movement it goes up a pound, then back down a pound.

I was the same way... At about 2 and a half weeks out I stalled for 2 weeks.. but then all of a sudden I lost 7 pounds in less than a week. I sure wish I could pin-point what I did that was so different because I have stalled out again!!! I am 6 weeks out and have lost 34 pounds. Seems like now everytime I get with in a week to a week and a half of my cycle.. I stall out till it is over. Oh boy is this going to be annoying!!! Just don't lose hope.. That is what I keep telling myself. I sure hope telling ourselves works because I sometimes think that this weight is never going to come off!!! Take Care Tracee
