STRAWS OR NO STRAWS
I was told not to drink out of a straw because it causes gas. I sometimes do use one though, especially with my protein drinks. It just seems to go down more easily. And I have a lot of gas anyway, even when I wasn't using one. Haven't noticed a difference since.
But the BIG ONE was when I was told I could never chew gum again
I LOVE chewing gum. They said it's in case you swallow it. I don't think, in my life, I've ever swallowed a piece of gum. But I guess it's better to be safe than sorry.
I was told no straws either, however, I am now using a straw occasionally. I waited until about 5 weeks out though. I don't have a problem with sucking in extra air and it helps me get in all of my liquids. I don't know why, but it is just easier for me to drink more through a straw than without one. I haven't noticed more gas either.
I was OK'd to use straws so I do. It makes taking a covered cup of water, protein, whatever in the car so much easier. I can just sip away at it all morning and not have to worry about dumping it down my shirt (which usually happens when I'm wearing white!).
I went to work for a party today and got a cup of ice water at lunch. I carried it with me all afternoon sipping out of it, no gas troubles here!
