First Post Since Surgery 4/26
Well I made it to the other side. It was quite eventful. Apparently Susan, on Desperate Housewives and I have a wandering spleen in common. The doctor nicked it in surgery and I had some big blood loss. I have been very weak and hopefully will not need a tansfusion. I am regaining strength slowly.
I had my two week check up on the 9th and had lost 26 pounds!!! Boy was I surprised.
The food thing has gone well, I have been on liquids and pureeds until now. I am finding that as I eat more "solid" foods that it is going down different. I get pains in both my sides and it seems that I spit up before I think I am full. It's kind of "foamy". Anybody else have this issue? Am I eating too fast? That's what I have been thinking...or am I eating too much?
Welcome to the losing side, April. Sorry to hear about your recovery problem...hopefully you didnt have to marry your ex-husband in order to get YOUR spleen fixed.
Good for you on the 26 pounds! That's awesome!
I was having the foamy problem too and I do think it comes from eating to fast. I have tried to slow down and that seems to have cured the problem.

Hi April ... I'm so sorry to hear about spleen/loss of blood. I hope all works out so that you won't need a transfusion. Congrats on your weight loss! It sounds like you're "dumping". I've only been eating soft/semi-solids since last Wednesday but I've not had any problems with anything I've eaten. The only thing I've noticed is that some things cause a lot more gas than others. I don't have pain, just a lot gurgling.
You could be eating too fast, too much, taking too big of bites, not chewing it up enough, OR it could be WHAT you're eating. If you're eating too fast, you're not giving enough time for your pouch to get full and tell you so. And if you're eating too much, it's probably because you're eating too fast so your pouch might actually be full but you may be getting a few bites in when you'd feel the fullness if eating more slowly.
Please keep us posted on how you're doing with your blood.
