Calories in a day
Approximately how many calories do you think you consume in a day?
I appreciate the thread on daily food reports. It is helping me plan for the coming week, which will be the first week that I can hold food down. I am supposed to be able to eat some solids, but am still choosing mushy foods. I added chicken today and it went well - chewed to death of course.
I am trying to plan my food for tomorrow and it comes to 700 - 750 calories with 80 grams of protein. Does that sound about right?

It's a free website where you can track waht you eat, what you weigh and your activity and nutrients.
The only caveat I have is that some of their default foods are simply a guide. Like Italian dressing. They say it has X calories, the stuff I use has less. So I tend to create a lot of custom foods.
I have my multivitamin and supplements set up in there as custom foods too so I can really track my nutriton on all levels. but I am bit obsessive.
I'm logging at fitday too.
I'm getting about 350 - 400 per day and about 30 - 40 grams of protein spread out over 2-3 meals a day. I don't tend to snack.
My surgeon doesn't seem to be concerned with calories or protein this early post-op - I'm a little over 4 weeks out.
I'm finding that I throw up alot - not sure if I'm eating too quickly or too much. I don't think it's a stricture (sp?) because when I'm really careful, everything stays down fine.... so it's got to be a bahavioral issue.
I'm probably a freak, but throwing up doesn't bother me all that much. It's so different from throwing up before surgery. Anyone else feel that way?
Thanks everybody.
This actually came up for me because I was planning on FitDay myself and was finding that it took more calories than I thought to get in 60 - 80 grams of protein and have a little balance. I don't want to dwell on calories. It's enough to have to count protein grams, but I want to have a basic plan for going back to work.
Ali - I am still throwing up, too. It was a problem with constant nausea at first. They though I had a stricture, but decided it was just surgery + Crohns disease, which I have had for many years. I still have nausea, but way less. I do see that if I eat too fast or too much, the food sort of pops back up and I vomit. It is a very straightforward behavior modification technique! LOL
