I need some meal help! It seems like lately all I find thats tastes great are starches (ie: baked potato *just the inside* and wheat thins) I need some high protein meal ideas... I thought I would come and ask my fellow April buds instead of posting on the main boad where this will get pushed back in like about 20 minutes. I am struggling.... its hard to get my water in, i need more protein, and i am hungry all the time

Are you drinking enough water? That can help keep the hunger at bay. I'm eating: tuna mixed with cottage cheese cottage cheese alone egg salad made with light mayo poached egg on half a slice of carb countown wheat toast turkey breast cooked in cream of chicken soup (so it's moist) low fat triscuits toast made with the carb countdown wheat bread and sprayed with olivio rolled up slice of turkey sandwich meat slices of Cabot 50% light cheddar cheese all natural no sugar added peanut butter on low fat triscuits ricotta cheese mixed with tomato paste, parm cheese, italian seasonings (heated) ground turkey (dark and light meat mix-it's moist) browned then I add tomato paste, cumin, salt and stir in a little light sour cream - it tastes taco like. Peanut butter "cookies" (all natural no sugar addded peanut butter, one egg, four splenda packets..... mix, roll into balls and press down with fork, bake 350 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes until they're getting harder... not just like a cookie but a nice treat) I think that's about it. I'm adding foods one at a time, I need to add cooked veggies as I haven't had any of them. Lizzie

You can always add the unflavored protein to your starches also.

Carbs slide down wayyyy too easily. Try substituing mashed cauliflower for the potaotes. PROTIEN FIRST- that will fill you up and help you lose. Measure your carbs out too. I like the 100 calorie wheat thin packs with about 1/3 of a can of tuna and some lite mayo. I can't fini**** in one sittin g but it's yummy, lots of textures and flavors and little bit of crunch!

I'm getting ready to make mac and cheese (from my nut) and it counts as carb/proein combo. I have started eating lean chicken lunchmeat (Boar's head or other good quality) and lite swiss with a little lite mayo rolled up and eat slowly. I can eat about 1/2 c. or a little over but I have to eat SLOWLY. This is the hardest part for me. Everyone else is done way before me. It's not good for anyone to eat fast even people who have not had surgery.
