Low Carb Crackers or Bread???
Andrea,
If you are in puree you really shouldnt be eating crackers yet I was on puree for 2 weeks and I couldnt eat anything that was hard now I am 4 weeks out and I am just now able to have them because they are rough on the pouch. I eat one or 2 just to get the crunch with my salads but I eat mostly the protein.....
I bought the Townhouse Bistro Crackers Multigrain, they were much better than wheat thins......less sugar surprising enough

Hey Andrea!
I can have saltines too on the pureed stage of my diet and do fine with them. The serving size I am allowed to have is 2-3 with egg, chicken, or tuna salad. I also use dill relish. Yummy.
I get to phase into regual foods next week and am kinda nervous and excited at the same time.

The crackers practically disolve to a pureed consistency, you should be fine. If you do try bread, toast it hard, and it goes down better. I've been eating solids since I was a week out and haven't had any problems. I do dump though, oh HIGH fat and HIGH sugar foods. So basically, I eat high protein, low carb, and have no problems.
Hi Sherry,
Now I'm not sure I dare eat the crackers---I ate some tuna and peas tonight & had the WORST experience I have had since I had my surgery. I'm guessing I ate too fast--all of a sudden I felt like I was having a heart attack and my pouch was making hideous sounds and then I so violently I got a nosebleed! I couldn't believe it--all this time I have been feeling great, and then this happens. Any thoughts, ideas or remedies?
Thanks,
Andrea
Hi, Andrea! I was having similar problems (the pain in the chest thing). I started to eat with a baby spoon and have been having much fewer problems. We actually found some demitasse (little!) spoons at a Rummage Sale this past weekend - at least they don't have pastel plastic or Sponge Bob/Square Pants handles!
Good luck, and thanks for asking about the crackers - I appreciate the knowledge!
