Topic: RE: Hair Loss
Julia, I too have just started losing lots of hair. A prior post mentioned B1 vitamin which I have been told recently by our doctors is something we have to take now whether we are losing hair or not and actually they turned around and said that not only B1 but we need to take the B-complex vitamin instead because if we only take B1 then it throws all our other B's off track. This is new info that has just been recently discovered by my docs (maybe others already knew). Anyway, I just wanted to update you on that and let you know you are not alone - it appears this inflicts just about everyone - but I have noticed that they all eventually get it back. One person lost so much hair she made a wig and about 8 months later her hair grew back thick and curly when before it was thin and straight. Hmmm, something to think about I guess. I too take Biotin once a day and now, because of the prior posts, I think I will try the shampoos too, at least they can't hurt. Good Luck, Kelly

Anita, I just wanted to tell you I was on the heavy side too. I lost a lot a first and have slowed down on my water and protein shakes. I learned my lesson by getting dehydrated. The more you have the shakes the better. I have a hard time with shakes but a friend that sells protein samples and shakes she allowed me to get some from her. I like them better because there not thick. I can't do vanilla, chocolate or strawberry to milky so I tried some Nectars. I love them you just stir and drink. They taste so good. You can get them down fast and I havent' noticed an after taste. If you are interested let me know privately and I will give you her web site. She sells samples very cheap. Keep in touch, Christy

Hey Stace - Just had to chime in on this thread to let you know I had my RNY 3 days after you and I also have lost 80 pounds, so I think we are losing just the way we are supposed to be and should feel fantastic about it! I liked one of the comments that said "When was the last time you lost 80 pounds in 4 months." I know I can say a BIG FAT Emphatic N E V E R !!!!! So, we gotta be PSYCHED about what we have accomplished so far! I get completely aggravated and frustrated at my scale sometimes too , but then I look at the big picture and I have to smack myself and say "HELLO??? - Are you kidding? - You're life is changing for the better every day!! Life is GREAT!!!!!!!!" ...... and then I quit my complaining and smile like I haven't smiled in years!!! Hope you can do the same!!!! Drop me a line anytime you need a pep talk or an ear to listen to you vent , because I know we all have bad days and frustrations! I hope TODAY is a good day! Gina

Woohoo for you-hoo! Isn't it great? My scale continues to move and I was 189 and a smidge this morning. I continue to eat a extra bit of protein before bedtime and I'm feeling very good. Keep up the good work! Lynda

Yes, there is definitely something in the air...because I lost too! I was stuck at 65 pounds lost for over 2 weeks. I got on the scale and lost another 5 pounds. I upped the amount of water I was drinking and cut out carbs w/ dinner (for the most part). Keep it up folks...we're all getting healthier by the minute!! L*

Topic: RE: Who had a WOW moment(s) this week?
Congratulations on a very fine week! I had a wow moment this morning when I stepped on the scale and saw 189 register! The last time I weighed in the 180s was eight years ago the last time I lost over 50 pounds. Also, it's chilly in WNY this morning and when I pulled on my 22w jeans after weeks of wearing shorts and skirts, they were huge on me. I'm so grateful I was able to get this surgery. Everything is changing for the better for me. Lynda

Hello Gina, What a great idea, I was just updating my OH profile and add that I had a couple WOW moments this last week, or milestones I called them in my profile. #1) Was when my girlfriend and her 2 kids came over last Saturday, Kayla, which is 7 or 8 years old came up to me and said, "Gosh your are getting smaller!" I remarked, Ya I am the shrinking Handsome Man. Then Trevor (aka Little T) my gf 10 year old son comes up to me and gives me a big hug and says you are getting smaller. I said ya, in a couple years I will be calling you Big T and not Little T. What a great feeling that is when someone actually says something to ya. #2) Is that I got to actually take a bath in the bathtub....I ACTUALLY SAT DOWN in the TUB....WOOOOOWWWWW!!!! My girlfriend Michelle was even shocked....Because the last time I tried to take a bath, was the first night I met her and we spent the night in a motel room and she suggested I take a bath and so I did and I flood the motel room..... OMG was that embarassing. Thats my WoW's for the last week.... Take Care Tom

Hey Gina! Sounds like you had a great week! Congratz on reaching onderland! I am definately looking forward to THAT day! Let's see... I had a few WOW moments myself.... I stopped by to visit my grandmother and when she opened the door, she didn't recognize me at first! My husband and I had gone to this party a few weeks ago and someone took a picture of us. The person emailed it to my husband this week and he put it as his background on his computer at home and at work. He also keeps telling me how hot I look. My husband, an avid RAMS and SEAHAWKS fan, bought me a SEAHAWKS jersey. It was a woman's large and it fit!! ( a little snugger than I like but I'm used to wearing oversized shirts). Again, he couldn't stop telling me how hot I looked. I hope more of you will post your WOW moments. It's those little moments that help us get through those frustrating times!!! Deb P.S. I hope your grandfather is doing ok.

Hey Stacie ~ That's 20 lbs. a month!!! You're doing great!! I've also lost 80lbs so far. My surgeon said if I was losing any faster, she'd be concerned I wasn't getting enough protein. So like someone already mentioned, do the things you're supposed to, the things you are in control of, and the weight will continue to come off. Keep coming here for support when you feel frustrated!!! Deb

Hi Everyone, This is something I normally post on the TMB but, thought it might be fun to do it here since we all had surgery in April. Now for the fun part. My WOW moments this week were one being with my Grandfather. He is a true cajun and talks cajun french alot, he also speaks his mind. I walked into his room (he is in the hospital in ICU) and the first thing out of his mouth was, "Hey Slim!" That made me feel so good because he is the first person to tell you if you need to lose weight. My second WOW moment was with my 9 year old neice. She asked me how come everytime she sees me I get smaller and smaller and would I be able to shop at the Limited II with her when I got to my goal weight. She thinks I am her age. My third WOW moment was my sister calling me the incredible shrinking woman! My fourth WOW moment and certainly my favorite was reaching ONDERLAND!!!!! So, what were your WOW moment(s) this week? Come on out and share them with us so we can cheer you on. I hope you all have a great week. I go back to work tomorrow and am dreading it. Gina
