Are you getting at least 60-80 g of protein a day? If not ask your Dr if you can supplement with protein drinks. It saved me. The minute I started them I started losing more. I also had problems post op!!

Topic: Any embrassing moments?
I had an embrassing thing happen to me yesterday. I went next door to the local hamburger joint to get a tuna salad for lunch. I was waiting in line to pay and a young lady behind me tapped me on the shoulder and said "excuse me, but I think you lost something". Looking down I realized my slip had dropped to the floor. Needless to say I was mortified. I kicked it to the corner and picked it up, and instead of getting lunch, I went to the mall and bought new underwear, slips and bras! Cost me a fortune, but I never want to have some guy tell me my panties are on the floor!!!

Congrats Judy Anne Im 5'9" too. I started at 345, am now 268 at 17weeks. My goal is 155-165. However, if I got into a 12 Id be thrilled! Ive had the same responses from people about losing too much or too fast. Stuff like, "not eating enough clories isant good for you" or "you may look good but you won't be healthly". Of course they are all on the hefty side . Jealous green eyed monsters I say. Funny thing is though, you say anything to them about their wt and they say things like, "what do you know, you had to have WLS to lose wt." To which I reply, "at least I did SOMETHING, and my attempt seems to be working" That usually shuts them up!! Good work and keep it up.

Topic: RE: weight loss slow down and stalled
Im also 17 weeks out. Ive lost a total of 77 lbs. I hit a stall 3 weeks ago and stayed at 274 for 3 weeks!!! I checked with my support group and they all said to keep exercising and check amounts of protein and carbs. I started my food journal again and was suprised to find I was taking in ALOT more carbs than I thought. And I was'nt getting enough protein in. I started getting in 60-80g of protein daily and keeping carbs around 40-45. I lost 8 lbs in a week. It's soooooooooo easy to slip into eating whatever you can, that you don'****ch it as closely as you should. Carol 345/268/155

Congratulations, you overweight girl, you. : I hope to join you soon. As I'm almost six inches shorter than you, I have another 15 pounds or so to get to "overweight". Don't let other people's opinion mess with your personal decisions. Especially when you have questions about their motivation. One more person calls me "skinny" in that snotty cheerful tone and I may forget my manners and smack them a good one! Lynda

Topic: RE: How much has everybody lost????
Hey gang, Well I was reborn on 4/18/05. Starting weight 287 and as of 8/24/05 I have lost a total of 70lbs and weigh 217. YEAAAAHHHH. I've slowed down sooo much but I feel great. People are starting to notice me. Still have about 62lbs to go to put me at my goal of 155. That's a realistic goal considering I am 5'8 1/2". I'll get there. My goal is to be able to fit into a loose size 12 jeans. Currently I am in a size 16 and some 18 depending on the cut of the pants. I'm happy though because it's a big change from wearing a 26/28. I really wanted to be one of those people who lost 100lbs in 6 months but if I don't lose 30 lbs in the next two months I'll still be happy. My goal for right now is to get under 200lbs. I only have 17 to lose and that will put me right at 200. I know I can do at least that amount in 2 months. Well, wish me luck and everyone keep up the excellent effort and hard work. See ya until my next post.

Guess you gotta understand where I'm coming from to make this comment, huh? I started out morbidly obese in April. Then went on to severely obese, obese, ane now I'm overweight and proud of it!!! Although I have not lost as fast as some of you, I have continued to shrink. People are begging me to stop losing, but who would stop at 196 pounds? I figure 165-170 would be a good weight for my 5'9" frame. That will make me "normal" as far as the health field is concerned. Time will tell! Judy(whoisnowwearingsize10jeans) PS I am now the same size as those who want me to stop losing. However, they are much much shorter than me. Hmmmmm . . . do I note a smidge of envy?
