Topic: RE: Hello Hello!! Update on me!!
Hey hey Tommy boy, this is your old friend Rae. I don't come to the boads much, I have lost touch with my surgery. I am on the weight gain trail. I have gained over 40 pounds, but this is because I gave up. I still get the "friendly" reminders from now and then that I had this crappy thing done to me, and now I am wondering if I made the right choice, instead of just doing it on my own. I feel disallusioned by my choice for surgery. Last year my Bypass center closed it's doors and left us who had surgery to fend for ourselves. That is when the weight gain started to sneak in. I am not too terribly upset by it, but every time I need to buy a bigger size, I am getting closer to where I was the day I had surgery. I am really considering starting from scratch, hitting the protein and jello again. I need to get back to the basics.
Please keep in touch with me. I miss you my friend. Rae

Dear Tiffany,
You have to put yourself first for maybe the first time in your adult life. My family was so against my choice ( taking the easy way out) that they shunned me. I went to the hospital by myself and no one came to visit me. But I knew this HAD to be about me. I was the one dying from being supermorbidly obese. I was just someone for everyone to talk about at the family reunions. Oh what a pretty face, look at that she is going for more food.. Sooo sad.> So Girl.. I know you love your family. But love yourself more and do what you have to do to make this work for you.
I started out at 350 pounds at five foot tall. I had cardiomyopathy, cardiomegally, diabetic, arthritis, high blood pressure , high cholesterol and triglycerides. I was a walking time bomb and today I am over 180 pounds lighter. I am not a size 10 and most likely never will be.. But its more about health to me than size and glamour. I want to be alive and be able to do everything a normal person can.
If you need someone to talk to look me up.. I know what you are going through and you do feel alone. But just wait. When you start looking healthier and they see your committment they will start to support you. And now my family is my biggest supporters. Who would have figured.
But for now we are here with you
Love and hugs

Anita,
The Pouch still works. We just forget to listen to it screaming at us that we are full. Life becomes difficult and food is still our friend. I am almost 3 years post op and just started losing well again. I had to go back to basics again and am doing well again. I have to force myself to listen to that little voice inside me that says...You are satisfied.. You are done.. get the hell up from the table NOW..
I am also recovering from a horrible knee injury with a torn ACL and meniscus. It took me a long time to finally be able to work that knee again and I am walking again. I will NOT give up on this dream.
Keep the faith you can do this

Happy Surgiversary to everyone with April dates!
It was three years ago today that I had my surgery....so much has changed for me since then. I started at 245 (I'm 5'1) and I'm holding steady between 127 and 130 now; my goal weight was 130. I reached my goal weight around May 2006. I am so grateful to have been able to have the surgery...I have no regrets. I am also proud to have been an inspiration to a few other people who are now enjoying the benefits of this surgery.
God Bless,
Carolyn
Topic: Three Years Today
Sometimes it seems like 10 minutes, other times it seems like 10 years ago I had this done.
It's become a way of life. Not always easy but my life has definitely improved.
How are the rest of the Anniversary WLSers doing today?
