Hey Helen!!! I tell you, this fluids first, lower carbs thing is working! I've lost a pound a day for the last week. Considering that everyone in my family has diabetes except me, I think that I am severely insuline resistant. Either that or my body finally got over the complications. 197.0 this morning! I read in one of your posts that the scale had gone down. Is your stall over? If not, try this approuch: 2 fluid low carb protein supplements for breakfast and lunch. (Yes they are nasty! ) Fluid, fluid, fluid (I drink whatever I want~ water, coffee, koolaid) and then whatever you want for supper. (I eat anything~ protien first but then potatoes, bread, whatever.) `I keep looking for your posts! ~Marra

Topic: Celebrex okay?
Hello, I can't seem to get a call back from my surgeon's office - great surgeon - terrible aftercare. Just wondering if any of you can help answer the following question: Is it okay to take the arthritis anti-inflammatory Celebrex AFTER surgery? I have not been on it since surgery and was so hopeful the weight loss would help the pain - unfortunately the 71 lbs I've lost just hasn't had an effect on my knees and hips - YET. I had to start back up again just to get some relief from the pain. I remember hearing something about not taking anti inflammatories so I am a little concerned. Apparently the doctor's office isn't too concerned since they haven't called back. Appreciate your responses, Linda B

Topic: RE: 6 month check-up
Hi Lynda, I saw a nutritionist after seeing the Dr. and she said I have to trick my body into thinking it's getting more food that it is. She has me changing my menu completely around. I was drinking a protein drink in the morning before I went out for my walk but she wants me to have a yogurt or a 2oz piece of chicken instead and then about 2 hours later a piece of fruit for a little burst of sugar energy. I have been staying away from carbs but she wants me to incorporate a small amount of carbs in my diet cause that is another energy booster. She told me that when my body is digesting the food it is boosting the metabolism and using more calories. By eating 5-6 times a day I'm always burning but the body is not feeling deprived and slowing down. She definitely does not want me to slow down on the exercise in fact when I told her I was thinking of joining a gym too, she was all for it cause building muscle burns more calories. I wish I was one of those people whose weight just falls off but I'm not and I REALLY want this to work so I'll do everything the doctors suggest. Every one talks about that "window of opportunity" and I think I'm entering a new phase of the weight loss process -one that requires my diligent attention and I intend to stay focused! Jackie

Hi there - It's been a while since I checked in too, so I thought I'd post a reply here. Doing great here. Down 93 pounds from 357 to 264 and on my 5 month anniversary (09/18/05) I got measured again and have lost 53 inches altogether! Where are all the April'ers that used to be around? Would love to hear from you all and see how you're feeling - it's been awhile!!! I need to update my profile and get a new picture up soon. I can't stand looking back at that old picture! Talk to you all soon! Gina
