Topic: RE: 6 month check-up
Hey, you are right there with me. The only way I lose is to stay on shakes, and low carb yogurt. When my doctor told me that calories in calories out bull, it ticked me off and I started to eat more. I immediately dropped weight. So you are right. Every time you slow down too much, eat more for a few days. I think I have been in starvation mode for years. But good luck to you, and keep in touch.

Topic: RE: Fat girl brain...
Yes, the fat girl in me keeps grabbing the wrong sizes and making me buy my clothes too big. The only time I realize that I am smaller now, is when I accidently catch a glimpse of myself as I go into a store in the the glass on the door. The I am surprised by what I see. I am far from skinny now, but I am smaller..... woo woo!
Topic: RE: OK, April 2005 surgery folks...how are you doing?
Hi all. Everyone has such great stories to tell. I had surgery on April 5,2005. I started at 345 and have lost 101 lbs. Went from 9 pills to 2 a day. Feel really great!!! Flew on 4 planes yesterday without a seatbelt extention. I went from size 32 to 22. I have been shopping thrift stores for clothing. Really found some great buys. I love the clothing exchange ideal. I went to one here in Delaware at a picnic for all taking this journey. What a great way for all to benifit. I got my hair cut today to blend in the new hair coming in after hair loss. Looks good and learned some new tricks. Keep the good news coming in. Lets all give each other a hand and put our heads up high and be proud. See all lighter. Joanne
Topic: Carbs-beans-HELP!!!
I have never seen any guidelines on beans as a protein source. I know that they are full of protein and they taste good to me, but they are also high in carbs. Do any of you eat beans regularly? How much is in a serving size? Have you eaten Wendy's chili - I know that it is low in fat, cheap and tastes good. Also, do any of you eat soup. I need protein sources that are easily portable and do not need refridgeration. I work full time plus frequent overtime at a job with 12 hour shifts and am going to school full time. Hardly time to sleep or eat and definately no time to cook.

To date I have lost 91 pounds. It sounds so amazing. I like everyone else am kicking my own butt for not having this surgery earlier. I have contemplated it for over 2 years before doing it. But sure am glad I did it, except for the comments from my husband. My weight loss has slowed down to 1-2 pounds a week which is discouraging. I know I need to up my exercise, and add more protein but I am forcing myself to eat what I do eat. I work 3-4 12 hour shifts per week and am full time in the Masters program at WKU. I hardly have time to sit down! I have noticed that during the plateaus I loose inches instead of pounds - I know it sounds strange. It sounds like everyone is doing great!!!

Topic: RE: Who had a WOW moment(s) this week?
Hi all, Congradulations on all your Wow Moments. Mine came yesterday. I had to fly on 4 planes yesterday and didn't need a seatbelt extention on any of them. I just loved it. I was so happy. It was my first time flying by myself but I really did great. This is something I would not of done 6 months ago. I am so glad I took this journey. I can hold my head up high and even look in the mirror and be proud. See all lighter. Joanne

Anita,
You are doing great!! I had my susrgery on the 6th of April and I am at -109 pounds, also. And it just so happens that one of my goals is to lose 200 pounds by July, too!! I started out at 418. I am actively WORKING towards that goal. Noone better say I took the easy way out to me!! LOL I go to the gym 3-4 days a week. And I do water aerobics twice a week. That is what I call work, buddy!! LOL I, too, am feeling much better. But I am so sick of hearing peeps say, " I can really see it in your face". LOL I appreciate that, really. But when peeps start saying, " ooo your butt is smaller" LOL
Then, I will be truly happy!!!!!!!LOL J/K
Keep up the good works April babes!!!!!!!!!

I had my surgery on April 27th. I started out at 420 lbs, and I am now down to 309lbs as of this morning. I am still having troubled moments, but they are getting to be few and far between. I am feeling great, and starting to really look different. Everyone seems to notice. I hope to get to my goal of 200lbs by july of 2006, but if i dont make it i wont be discouraged. i see the weight i have lost so far as a HUGE blessing, and each lb more as an incredible accomplishment. people think that by having the surgery it is taking the easy way out, but they have NO idea how hard all of this is. it is a change not just in our life, but FOR the rest of our lives. Keep up the good work everyone, and I hope we all make it to our goal.

Hi,
I have been shopping at our local rummage sales, and I've found lots of clothes at a great price.. That's just as addictive as spending real money. I'll spend the real money when I'm done moving.
