Topic: RE: Has anyone ever had a hernia repaired?
I just had hernia repair surgery about 6 weeks ago. I do have to admit that it was worse for me than the gb surgery. It took me about 2 weeks to feel normal. I was home from work for about 1 week. The gas pain was horrible. e mail me if you have any other questions. Lois

Topic: Has anyone ever had a hernia repaired?
I'm having surgery on Thursday to have my hernia repaired because it is getting bigger and I'm in a lot of pain from it. Since July when I noticed it it has at least doubled in size, so my doc wants to fix it. I'm really freaked about it because of how poorly I reacted to surgery last time. So if people could fill me in on their experiences I'd really appreciate it! Wish I could wait for tummy tuck time, but that's a year from now and doc said no way. Silly to be more anxious about this surgery than I was about bypass, but last time I was confident and that got me a 3 week hospital stay. Thanks Hugs Jen

Topic: RE: Craving Sugar!!!!!
I've been having sugar episodes for a couple months. It calls to me and I've been eating it to the detriment of my weight loss. The past week I have pulled up my socks and stopped the cookie and candy binge. Friday I made apple crisp with no added sugar and high protein granola baked on top for the crunch. Sweet and delicious and acceptable for my eating plan. Try something similar made with any fruit to trick your sugar tastebuds into contentment. My personal apple crisp recipe 4 cups thickly sliced Cortland apples 1/2 cup raisins 1/2 cup broken walnut pieces Tbsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp salt Tbsp lemon juice Mix together and dump into Pam sprayed baking dish. Top with 2 cups high protein granola cereal. Bake @ 350 degrees 40 minutes

Before surgery my surgeon asked me what my goal weight was....I didn't have a goal "weight" as much as a goal size...I told him I'd be THRILLED with a 16( I was a 26/28 at surgery). He smiled told me he expected me to go below that but was glad I was realistic. I officially fit my behind in a 19 juniors and an 16 regular jeans last week and I agree with you...i'm happy right here. Don't get me wrong ...lol a size 10 or 12 wouldn't be a bad thing but even if i never lose another ounce I'm happy with me Cathy

Topic: Craving Sugar!!!!!
Hi All, Are any of you experiencing sugar cravings??? I have not wanted anything sweet since surgery until last week. Nothing seems to satisfy the craving. I finally ate two mini tootsie pops (felt fine after doing so at least if I had gotten sick it would make me never want to do it again!!!) I have made an appointment with my dietician but I won't see her until Nov. 14. If you can offer any advice I would be grateful!!! Teresa

You didn't include white carbs in your typical menu but seems you're eating them. This is defeatest behavior. You need to cut out the bad carbs until your body gets back into a losing routine. The carbs convert to sugar which you may or may not be metabolising - but it sounds like not much. So your body is comfortable with how many carbs it's getting and has established a caloric intake consistent with maintaining current weight. In order to lose more weight, you need to take in fewer calories than you need/use. Go to as much non-fat vs. low carb as possible. Low carb still has fat. Use as many sugar-free products as possible. Cut out bad carbs as much as you can and limit the bad ones to a time earlier in the day when you're more likely to use them up

I know how it feels! The weekend before my wedding, I went to Victoria's Secret and bought some lovely lingerie for my wedding night. I was excstatic that I was actually to walk out with something that fit, panties size large, along with a corset 36 B (I had small boobies to begin with, lol) that both actually fit perfectly. It was an awesome feeling. I also went to walmart last night and bought like $60.00 worth of bras and panties... mostly panties and thongs. Like you, I'm in a large/ size 7 panties now and it feels awesome. YAY FOR THE MAGIC PANTY ELVES!!!! I also went on a shopping spree, because unlike any other time, now I can actually go in and pick something up off the rack that fits, and not have to go to the granny-tent section, lol. I'm so happy to declare that I'm finally into a 15/17 juniors now... it feels great. Oh... and what is it with people on here talking about sizes 15, 16, and even 18 like they're big sizes? I'm sorry, but when I was a size 22, I only dreamed about squeezing into some 15's... and now that I'm in a 15... I wouldn't need to drop another pound and I'd be happy. Heh... okay, I'm done ranting. YAY FOR NEW SIZES!!

Thanks Anna. I rather not have a period at all!! I had a 1 day break in all that time. I was on Premarin for 3 days and it stopped then started again. I wonder how long a person can have a period before it becomes dangerous? Does it ever become dangerous to bleed so long? I guess I need to ask my gyn that when I see her on the 14th.
