Hi Joanne, A friend of mine, Helen, told me about this challenge. Her surgery was in April, but I am a 'mayster' from the May 2005 surgery group and have been stalled for just over two months now. I hope your group doesn't mind my barging in for some tips and encouragement. btw, Recently I sent you some fudge recipes on the recipe or cooking board, how is the cookbook coming along for your support group? I started today, here's how I did: brkfast- 2 oz (56 g) Dannon's carb control yogurt mixed with 2.5 oz (75 g) Greek Yogurt, it's imported from Greece by Fage Corp and a single serving (5.3 oz-150 g) has 13 gr protein and 80 cal, i get it at a Whole Foods Market by us snack- 2 oz sf jello l- 1 ounce mascarpone cheese with 1 scoop protein and a little cocoa snack- the other half of the yogurt i mixed for breakfast dinner- 4 oz chicken broth snack- sf popsicle 50 ounces (1 litre) diluted Crystal Lite lemonade, half water, half mixed CL I think I should check out fitday.com and see where I am protein-wise. I think I may be one of the people that has issues with eating carbs, too as someone else posted. I had fallen into a slump of eating tunafish salad on wheat thins and oh boy, I love my Power Crunch bars. Power Crunch bars will have to wait for a few weeks til I get my weight loss going again. Thanks to all who put together this challenge and good luck to everyone participating! cyber hugs, Sue

Topic: RE: Who had a WOW moment(s) this week?
Gina, congrats on your WOW moments. What a wonderful feeling they are! I had a WOW moment the other day. My 11 yr old daughter and I went out to pick up an item from the store. We had seen a young man in the store, he was probably in his mid to late 20's. He was in the armed forces and was dressed in his uniform (not the fatigues but not the dress uniform, not sure what you call them.) He looked pretty good in them though whatever they were. I noticed but not anymore than that. When we were walking to the car he drove by and nodded and smiled at me. I know that wouldn't seem like a lot to the person that has never been overweight but to me it was amazing. I am use to having people snicker and point or make rude comments. So to me this was a very WOW moment. YAHOO!!!!!

I thought I might join you all in the challange. I am going back to the basics of high protien and low carbs. I have just added to many carbs back into my diet especially over the holidays. I started this journey at my highest weight of 289. My lowest weight was 175 and after the holidays it is 179. I know that doesn't sound like much but any upswing gets me moving to figure out what to do. The attitude that it isn't much is what got me into trouble before. I will be cheering for all of you as well as myself! Here is what I had today. We will see if this will get rid of the extra 2 lbs and allows me to lose the last 25 lbs that I have to lose. Breakfast: Canadian Bacon poached egg Snack: 3 oz cheddar cheese Lunch: Carb Freedom Yogurt w/ protien powder Snack: sugar free jello Dinner: hamburger patty w/ cheese cottage cheese Snack: sugar free chocolate pudding Total for the day is: Carbs 16 Protien 101 Calories 968 Fluids 40 I really need to work on the fluids that is the hardest part for me.

I also have the constipation problem. I was hospitalized for severe pain and they found I was very backed up/ Tried the citrus stuff and stool softeners but nothing worked. I take Miralax every day now in my coffee and it keeps me regular. It has no taste and doesnt get thick like Metamucil. Ask your doctor if you can try it. I would be lost without it!!

Try Unjury's Strawberry Sorbet Protein drink. It's really yummy and you can mix with water. Sometimes I mix with half skim milk and half light orange juice for a smoothie! You can order it at unjury.com Teresa

Topic: FitDay users
I stumbled across this site this afternoon that helps me with my info for FitDay. http://www.nutritiondata.com/index.html You can enter a food item and it does an analysis of it. Many fast foods restaurants are listed so you can also check out their products. I was checking out the pintos 'n cheese from Taco Bell and also Wendy's Chili. These were some of the first foods I was allowed after WLS. Judy

Topic: Who had a WOW moment(s) this week?
Hi Everyone, I'm running late today. It's been a busy day but, fun filled. I hope everyone had a great New Year and has an even better 2006, may all your hopes and dreams come true. So, who had a WOW moment(s) this week? My WOW moments were: 1.) Both of my nieces saw me for Christmas and then they saw me again on New Year's day and each one of them came up to me without the other knowing, saying I looked smaller then I did the last time they saw me. 2.) I got up to go in the house and my little brother looked at Tracy and told him I looked like I was 16 from behind. 3.) Tracy and I went to a New Year's Eve party and his son was there with his friends (they are 16) and his son's friends were hitting on me. 4.) I bought my first pair of size 10 pants. WOOHOO 5.) The BEST WOW moment, I reached my surgeon's goal this week. Not my personal goal though. Don't forget to share your WOW moments with us, we love to hear them and cheer you on. Have a great week everyone. Gina
