Hi, I am 10 months 16 days post op. I had the Rny performed. I've only lost 70 lbs,The first 49 lbs was when I was 3 months out. I stay hungry. has anyone else had this problem.. I am still 225 lbs. from 290. I have lost down to a size 14 stretch jeans from 24. How can I get this weight to start droping again.. I have seen so many others that have already down to their goal now.. I crave sweets. and stay hungry..

Oh, honey, don't give up! Are you really hungry, or is it head hunger? Keep up the protein intake along with the water. Stay away from the sweets, if you can. I haven't tried anything with sugar in it, because I do NOT want to know if my body will tolerate it. Are you physically active? I know that the gym is not the place for me. I am just not disaplined enough. I have started pilates and yoga classes, though. I thought maybe I could meet single men there - hahahaha!!! This might sound really gross, but sometimes I get the craving for a certain type of food. I find that is it really only the taste that I crave. Sooooo . . . I chew a bite and get out the flavor and then spit it out. I do this several times and the craving is gone and very little of it has passed down my throat. Like I said, this may sound gross, but it works for me. Good luck and please don't give up. You have come so far already. Judy

Hi, Edna. Judy is right. You didn't mention exercise, too, and that is so important. And as you lose the pounds, you need to up the exercise - don't get crazy about it, but challenge yourself and work up a sweat every day. Your body will respond! It will go - "hey, she's serious about this stuff - I need to make more muscle!" Muscle = a higher metabolic rate. You also start to feel in charge of your body again instead of the other way around like you (we) were. Eat what you need to eat in the quantity you need it and when you want to eat - 3 meals a day, of course. Use your protein shakes (or bars) for your snacks when you do get hungry in between meals. Go for permanent lifestyle changes, and your body WILL respond to the best of its ability. Don't get caught up in comparison with others - just look at what you have achieved thus far and where you want to go yet. Are you taking your vitamins? If your body is depleted, it will want more food to get the nourshment it needs. Find a support group - that helps me, too. You need to be a little selfish right now until you get your life and your body under control. Go for healthy and fit! God bless your and strengthen your resolve! Hope to hear back from you... Bev (P.S. I am about 10 months out from WLS. I have lost somewhere in the neighborhood of 80-90 lbs, but NOT without effort on my part, believe me. There is no magic pill!)

Edna, I am so pleased that you posted. I had surgery on 4/4/05 and have lost less than you. Im not sure exactly how many pounds but 27kgs which is closer to 60 than 70lbs. I feel like the ultimate failure, I really do. I am sorry that you are a slow loser , too, but like me, just dont give up. Keep at it. I mean we already had this damn surgery so what else can we do? I havnt really lost anything much since september or october, its been like 1 kg (2.2lbs) per month for me since then. I lost some weight prior to surgery on Optifast and Im trying to get the courage to perhaps go back on that again for a while. Im so tired of dieting and not getting to where I want to be. So many people are at or near their goal, arrrgggghhhhhhh. hugs from down under Helen

Gosh, I knew I couldn't b the only one in this situation. and yea failer i feel like the big F. My daugter just went into surgery for the bi pass Feb 28 she suppose to come home today.. she is doing fine, and I noticed the same staff, Doctor that I had but, the first pain meds she got was a shot. I had to drink my pain meds from the get go..many things was different sence 11 months ago.. I was called a failer by one of my family members and we will have to work our butts off. anyways. being with her is going to help me get on track again. I just stay hungry and graze a lot. Like you mine I stoped losing about oct too "sounds like our metabolizm are a lot a like" while in the hospital I talked with my surgeon and asked him if the pouch could have stretched sence he was my daughters doctor it was handy for me to mention my Issues to him. He said no and I asked him how long would the weight continue to drop he said up to 18 months, and that he had some patients to lose up to 3 years that gave me hope , The staff trainer came in to discuss exercise with my daughter and he told me to get moving, which i have been very lazy with he said up to 45 minutes a day, stop eating at 6:00 or 8:00PM, Heck he actually came back to the hospital and took me for a walk down around the hospital thats dedication just to get me motivated. So I believe my daughters surgery bounced me back on track.. I hope this helps you.. Plz stay in touch or email me.. cus we have lots in common..Edna [email protected]
