Hi, fellow WLS traveler! I have found that the only thing that breaks these plateaus is exercise! Your body adjusts to the calories you are consuming unless you up the amps and move those muscles. At some point it becomes diet and exercise - at least that is how I see it. The surgery gets you going big time, but then I found I needed to make lifestyle adjustments as I lost the weight. As the pounds came off, I could increase my exercise and nudge the weight loss into gear again. Watch your portion control, too, and be in control of what you eat - don't let yourself eat things you know you shouldn't. And don't even TRY sugar - just assume you would have trouble with it if you did. Stay away from soda pop - these are empty calories and the carbonation can make your stomach size increase so I am told. Grab ahold of this opportunity and keep at it - don't give up. WLS is not a magic pill - but it sure does help a lot! Hope to hear back from you! By the way, my year anniversary will be April 25th. I started out at 240 lbs. I was a little on the low side for WLS, but had several co-morbidities; high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, GERD, etc. I am below 160 lbs now with 2 months to go. I started out just walking, then I walked faster, then I went to Curves, and now I am going to the Rec Center for hour long aerobic classes that really make me sweat - I am probably the oldest person in the room at 52 years of age, but I am keeping up! YAY! Hope to hear back from you - Bev

Hello fell April'er. I too started off as a lightweight, 231 to be exact. I'm currently 142 and I do run 4 miles 4 x a week. Thank you so much for responding back to my post. I was hoping to be 130 by my anny in April, so we'll see what transpires. I know that I probably should change my routine, you know what, I don't want to! How's that for stubborn LOL!!! I diet like crazy with my tool and treat it good! Now why I'm going through this, I have no idea, but I'll just keep doing what I'm doing, but I want to have some playing room, like 5 pds our so! Thanks again, S

Hi, I'm about in the same boat. I had my surgery April 25th and I have lost and gained the same 5 to7 lbs. since September. I know I have eaten things I shouldn't have and I don't exercise like I should. I just try to eat what won't make me puke. Not dump. I've dumped because of eating sugar, and some foods just make me puke. It's kinda like when I used to be diabetic. I've had tests done and it's not that. So I think I have just gotten used to this weight and I've not really used my tool like I should. I am going to change that tho. Take care Judy

. Guess I'd better quit my whining at myself for bouncing up and down the same 3 pounds for the past month. I don't know what I'd do if I hadn't lost any weight since last year! I feel really bad for y'all!! :::: HUGS:::: I stepped up my exercise, and now the scale started moving downward again. Hopefully that was the key. I've also added protein shakes, which I haven't drank in ages. Want to make sure I'm getting all my protein in. My 11 month Anniversary is coming up March 6th. I'm down 122 pounds so far, having started at 310 -- I'm now 188. I am just AMAZED to be in the 100's!!!! Good luck to everyone!! Dayna 310/188/120 (Surgeon's goal - I'm 5'2")
