Hello all, I need a serious pep talk. I will be 10 months post-op on the 18th of this month and I have only lost 100lbs. I look at eveyone else profile and they have lost so much more that I have. Why???? My start weight was 287. I'm so depressed. My goal weight is 150 and I was hoping to be at goal by my 1 year check up. Somebody please help before I go crazy.

I've lost 98 pounds and am not depressed. I've only ever been able to lose 50 pounds before WLS and I managed to do it about five times. I feel confident these 98 pounds are gone for good. Step back and look at your big picture and you will see you should be jumping up and down for joy and not wallowing! Cheer up, girlfriend!

You've done a great job!!! Everytime I think I'm not losing what I should be I go to the "post-op" planner and look at what my goal should look like. I think (at least for me) I got really used to the weight just falling off and not really having to work at it. Now is the time to use our "tool" the honeymoon phase is over. The post-op planner says 60% of our excess weight is the average amount lost. Next time you get the chance go to the planner and start at 60% and then go up from there. I think you'll be surprised at how well you're doing!!!! Keep up the good work!!! Hugs, Teresa

If it makes you feel any better, I lost 80 since the surgery (April 21, 2005). I had lost 60 two years before the surgery. feisty emm

That is something to be proud of. I have dropped 105 but for the last month I haven't lost anything. I will be 10 months out on the 26TH. Check your diet and exercise maybe you need to tweek something there or it may just be one of those platues they warn us about. Hang in there it will get better. Kristi

Hi Anjail, You have really done very well. I have lost from 260 to 180 . I have gone from 177 to 185 since September I think. I was 180 this morning. So that is a very long plateau. I know tho that is what it is and that it will eventually start moving down again. I am CONFIDENT of that. So just be patient. Keep doing what you are suppossed to and it will happen. take care. Judy

Sweety, you are doing WONDERFULLY!!! Keep in mind that there are many on here who started out on the heavier side of obese and had a lot more to go. I've lost 132lbs since my surgery, BUT, I started at 388! I still have about 70lbs to go to be at goal. SO if you look at percentages... I've lost 65% of my excess body weight and you've lost 72%! Be proud of what you've lost! You are doing SO well. Just keep up with your program and don't stress so much about it! GOOD LUCK Michelle
