Post Op Planner question

I posted this on the main board but am posting here too wondering if there is a nine and ten month slump or something? I'm 9.5 months postop and have fallen behind a month and a half with the numbers on the post op planner thingy. I know it's just a possibility guide and I know my setback is my own stupid fault through poor choices the past couple months. What I'm wondering is... can one really get back on track? I'm feeling very discouraged. Some days I think I've stretched my pouch to where it's no longer going to work. Is that possible or am I just catastrophizing? Lynda

Hi Lynda, I hear you... I too have slumped the last month or so.. I haven't gained but loss was minimal.. Is Catastrophizing a word? I know the discouragement is hard.. at least for me.. Just keep trying up the protein and water I have been told will help.. Donna

Catastrophizing is not only a word, it is something at which I excel. It ranks right up there with my other quirks such as superior visualization skills and low vomit threshold. I ate two cheese sticks for breakfast and have water at my elbow and am trying to get back on the narrow road to success. Thanks, Lynda

Seems we April's are at it again! From what I remember, we all STALL at the same time! I have not lost anyting since the beginning of November, although I have not really tried. I am in a size 6/8 and feel very good about that as I am 5'9". I am within 5 pounds of goal. I know I need to up the water and exercise, but I am TOO comfortable where I am now. Judy

Hi Lynda, well for the past 4 months I have only dropped 2lb a month and I am only down 58lbs since surgery and have so far to go. I went to the nutritionist who advised me to try to increase my calories as I get too few. I dont know what to do anymore. Before surgery I thought I would be a further 50lbs down by now. It is all toooooo depressing and makes me sad as hell. I think I have catastrophized right from the beginning lol. hugs from down under helen

Helen, Didn't I read one of your posts somewhere which said "they" finally found a reason you're not losing as quickly as most? I can't remember for sure. At least you continue to lose. It may take you longer but eventually you'll even up with the rest of us. Don't give up. Lynda

I have only lost 50 lbs since my surgery in April 2005. However, I am off all diabetic medications and I am proud of that. I work out 4-5 times a week. I am eating what I'm supposed to besides a few slip up's here and there. I am in a support group. I am drinking the 70 ounces of water every day faithfully. I take the vitamins. At the end of the day sometimes I am discouraged about my results but I feel as though I didn't gain the extra hundred pounds in a few months or even a year and I won't lose it that quickly either. Hang in there. Feel free to contact me at [email protected]

Lynda, Well I have to say my weight loss has slowed down to about 2 to 3 lbs per week now but, I have found that I have to do a bit morre excerise to keep it going and to mix it up a bit.. I mean don't do the same thing everyday.. I have been doing this for the last month and it sure has helped. Also I have upped my calorie intake too. Instead of the 3 mini meals a day I have also add 4 protein snacks and keep drinking at least 80 ozs of water /day. I also drink up to 3 cups of regular coffee /day ... That is my weakness these days. I found that if I am not losing weight. I am losing inches I am now wear size 3 xl clothes and there so darn baggie that I am like what the heck is going on... It looks like I am carrying a tire around my belly now... but I still have to lose another 100 lbs before PS. But I think we Apirlites are in the same boat.... The ol' Honey Moon is over and we have to work to keep the scales reading the negative readings. I am working out at the gym now 4 to 5 days per week now.

Linda, I am an April 2005 post op. I haven't lost any weight in 3 months. I am not sure why but I have dropped a dress size. I have lost 67 pounds but have dropped 5 dress sizes. I think it is not the wieght as much as the over all conditioning of your body. The fat goes but the muscle must stay. So if you're keeping up with your protein the muscle will stay strong. Muscle weighs more than fat. I have had to tell myself that numbers is not what it is all about. The pouch is there to stay. I found a wonderful link that you might be interested in http://www.renewedreflections.com/news/gastric-bypass-diet/gastric-bypass-diet-single-news/article/gastric-bypass-pouch-rules/ this is a wonderful explanation of the pouch and how to take care of it. I found out about it on this site. It gave me a lot of peace. I think the greatest thing we have to remember is not to beat ourselves up we are human and we will fail but .....remember to dust yourelf off and get back up on the walk of success "step out of the box again" Ü Take care....remember "You're Special" Melanie [email protected]

Hey Kiddo, LAX-again, you are doing just fine... Your body's internal thermostat is just readjusting. Take the pressure off of yourself and look just how far you have come. Enjoy the journey. After nine years PostOp, it is sometimes hard to remember the journey itself. Lastly know that your struggles are actually a blessing to many of us who take our recovery for granted. You pain helps me remember WHY i make good food decisions. You are doing just fine sweets, nobody has a stopwatch and a scale ready to judge you. PUH-lease let me know if there is ever ANYTHING I can do to help or encourage you. Blessings, Craig T 9 years PostOp www.renewedreflections.com Open RNY - 2 TT's
