HELP! I'm so discouraged....
I need some advice/encouragement. It's been 6 months since surgery and my weight hasn't moved in well over a month. To me, it's very discouraging. I know all about the "plateau's", but it just seems like a almost two months is entirely too long. I can't help but wonder if I am doing something wrong. Unfortunately, I can't see my Doctor about it. I recently started a new job, and the insurance hasn't kicked in yet. Are there others out there who have experienced the same thing, or is currently experiencing it?
Me too. I've been gaining and losing the same four pounds for about six weeks. The past two, two and a half months I've only lost six pounds. I don't know if I'm in a slow down, plateauing, or what. I've been having sugar cravings from hell and last night I ate candy like it was the last day on Earth. Maybe there's a six month curse or something we have to muscle through. I saw my sugeon on Friday and he's pleased a*****h about my progress. When I expressed my dismay about the slow down in my weight he was totally unimpressed and said it was to be expected.
Good luck to you.

I did the same thing. I think that there will be periods where normal weight fluctuations will mask the weight we have lost so that we appear to be bouncing around a spot, then eventually drop a bit lower and bounce around that spot for awhile. It has happened to me a number of times already. But I have not lost very fast, nor near as much as many others. I just try to be happy with where I am and check the scales periodically so I won't start gaining.............LOL
Good luck.......... natalie
I know how you feel also. Not only have I only lost a couple of lbs in the past month, I did not loose any inches either. The funny thing is, my pants are looser. I have been very dicouraged since I have only lost 60 lbs in 6 months. The past few months have only been about 5 lbs a month. I did take a 6 month picture and compared it with my surgery day picture and you can tell a huge difference. If you have not taken a picture, I would suggest that you do. It makes a difference in how you feel. I wish I could figure out the secret to success with this . I never know if I am eating too much or too little, either one can slow down your loss. I have started the plateau diet and we will see how that goes. I started yesterday, did really well, had all my protien, water etc, exercised for an hour and got on the scale this morning and was up almost 3 lbs. I still need to lose another 50 or 60 lbs and I have a feeling it is going to be a battle and take me more than one year. I guess we all have to just do the best we can and hope that our bodies will decide to let go.
Take care

I am right at 7 months and have only lost 50 pounds and I too need to lose another 50 or 60 pounds. I keep doing the plateau thing. I think I am not eating enough, because I will stay at the same place FOREVER and the several times when I got disgusted and ate a little more then checked the scales expecting to see a gain, I suddenly dropped. Maybe we are making the old body go into starvation mode............ and it needs a two day thing with a few extra calories. Frankly, it wouldn't bother me a bit to live off of two protein shakes a day, and 1 low carb yogurt........ actually, I could be happy with one shake, and 1 yogurt, and not really get hungry, and if I did a slice of cheese would fix me up just fine.......... LOL. (Funny think is my Dr told me calories in--- calories out........ implying I was eating too much......... it ticked me off because I sat down and figured out that I had been eating around 500 calories or less a day) I got irritated enough that I ate something that I felt was too many calories...... and said.......... heck with him I might as well have a something once in awhile............ right after that within a day or so........ I dropped like 5 pounds........ instead of gaining the ones I expected.
Good luck guys. natalie
I think we are normal!! My Dr was impressed with my 83 pound loss.. but I think we have become almost normal where we actually have to satart working on this.. up the exercise and actually star****ching what goes in.. Garbage in garbage out..
I havent lost but 4 pounds in the last month.. I KNOW I haven't been faithful in my liquid intake and my exercise is off a little too... I am going to up it a little..

Don't get discouraged. Sometimes you just need to shake things up a little *****ange your diet around if you are eating the same things. I know this sounds crazy but it was the advice that I got when I hit a lull and it worked. I started eating different kinds of foods and bam it worked. Now I try and change my eating patterns every 2-3 weeks. It forces you to pay attention to what you are eating and you get to try a new variety of foods. I habitually get stuck in habits because I hardly have time to breath. But I have realized that I need to stop and spend some time paying attention to myself.
Look at what weight you have lost. Always try and be positive, even if it is just a little positive - it helps.

I really understand what you are going through. I think we all had different expectations. I wanted to be down 100 pds by now headed toward my 7th month and it seems 83-85 has found me and doesn't want me to go. I am going to cut back on Curves and do LEslis Sansone walk- diet tape to see would a little cardio do the trick. I'll let you know.
Smooches,
