Celebrex okay?
Hello,
I can't seem to get a call back from my surgeon's office - great surgeon - terrible aftercare. Just wondering if any of you can help answer the following question:
Is it okay to take the arthritis anti-inflammatory Celebrex AFTER surgery?
I have not been on it since surgery and was so hopeful the weight loss would help the pain - unfortunately the 71 lbs I've lost just hasn't had an effect on my knees and hips - YET. I had to start back up again just to get some relief from the pain.
I remember hearing something about not taking anti inflammatories so I am a little concerned. Apparently the doctor's office isn't too concerned since they haven't called back.
Appreciate your responses,
Linda B
Hello Linda,
I am going to start by saying that I am not a doctor, and these are just my opinion and what I have heard.
My surgeon told me that Celebrex is a no no.... It can cause ulcers in the pouch and you don't want that. But Tylenol is acceptable for pain releif.
I was taking Celebrex 200 mgs x 2 per day, before my WLS. But since I have lost 130 lbs in the last 5 and half monthes. the only thing I take for my knee and hips pain is Gluclosamine w/ MSM in a liquid form once a day and a occasional Tylenol. I feel so much better.
