Exersize?
Hey ladies/men! I was just wondering, how ya'll are doing with the exersize?
I'm almost 6 months out(hard to believe) and I was walking everyday, now its usually every other day. I have 3 kids I chase around daily and am doing for and I believe i get simply a mile in with the housework, etc here.
BUT that is the only form of exersize i do. I need to do something more, but its soo hard for me to find the time. When I have the radio on, me and the 3 y/o will dance and act silly, but I need something more.
SOOOOOO, what are ya'll exersize plans like... do you just walk or more? I would love to go to a gym, but money is tight right now and I just cant do it.
Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks!!

-91lbs and HOLDING... ARGHHHHHH(darned plateaus..lol)
Lora,
I try to go to the Y at least 3 days/week (during the summer, it was 5, but gas prices lately and all the daily stuff keeps me soooo busy!) I either swim for an hour or two or I do water aerobics for an hour and swim for an hour or so. The water aerobics class I do is actualy very good. It is designed so that you can choose to workout hardcore or just kind workout -- of course, I push myself to the limit!!
If money is tight (believe me, I know all about THAT situation!) then the Y is one of your best options. They start their fees at like $300/month for a family membership, BUT -- they have a sliding scale for those of us who don't make THAT much or who have a lot of bills. Ask about the "open doors" policy and they will tell you if you qualify based on your income/situation. The childcare is included in membership, so you don't have to worry about what to do with the little one while you workout. Also, they usually have loads of classes (yoga, pilates, water aerobics, etc) that will help you get in shape as well as someone who can help you customise your workout to target your needy areas/lifestyle. good luck, I hope this helped!

you can get exercise tapes from the library. walk, walk walk, ever try it in the dark? i have five kids and they are all busy with sports and school, i know it is hard, but this is very important. time to put yourself first.
i exercise longer on the weekend. quick bits during the week. they say 15-20 mins at a time is good.
I look at exercising like brushing my teeth. I have to do it every day. I have a lot about exercise in my profile. Helps that the husband is a personal trainer so I know how to get a good workout in with or without weights. I do a resistance training program as well as cardio. Also assorted other activities. They key for my consistency is just finding things I like and doing them when I first wake up in the morning.
Posted about weight less workouts the bodybuilding boards and it might help you if you can't afford a gym:

I go to Curves 3x a week on my lunch hour.. It is a 30 minute total body work out. Then I go back to work put the fan on and blow the stink to the co worker I don't like..
I have also heard drinking ice water causes you to burn more calories because of the energy it takes your body to warm itself back up!

Hi Lora!
I go to the Y and take their free classes for members. I do Core Strength and Flexibility, RAPS (which is an ab class) and Body Toning. Last month I did cycling (spinning) and salsa/hiphop. My Y is brand new, and I pay $75 a month for my whole family to go. An individual membership is $50 a month. My surgeon also told me the Y here offers a discount to bariatric patients,( my rate isn't discounted at all) so call your local Y and see if they offer something like that, too. They won't turn ppl away so talk over with them to pay what you can afford, and get in there and have a great work out!
Good luck!
Also, a nice long walk at a good pace does wonders for you, too, and that's free! See if there are any support groups in your area that may have others like you who want to get together and exercise together! I know members of my support group who live near each other walk together!
