Calling All April Loser
I had my surgery on April 18, 2005. Starting weight 287 and todate I have lost 77lbs weighing in at 210. Question, has anybody weight loss STOPPED because mine has. When will it pick up again. I must admit I have been eating a litte more than I could in the beginning but I think that is normal. Any suggestions on what I should do. And I would like to hear from some of you happy losers to see if you are experiencing the same issue I have. HELLLLPPPPP MEEEEE!!!!!!
Anjail,
First of all... congrats!! You are doing SO well! I had my surgery on the same date My weight loss has stopped and started SEVERAL times since surgery. I find that the best way to get things going again is to up everything.. water, protein, and exercise! If that dosn't work, try switching it up a little bit. Do a different exercise, or switch your foods around a bit.
GOOD LUCK!
Peace,
Michelle
Hello Anjail,
Wow ! you are doing great! By the way I had my surgery on April 18th also!
I don't know if you read my post on my update just before this post. But I just had my 5-6 month checkup with my surgeon yesterday. What Dr. Searles said to me was to up my excerise and to get to my next goal I would have to do at least a hour and half of excerise per day, he said that is walking or swimming 1 1/2 hours non-stop ... I looked at him and laughed. So today I walked as far as I could and I made it about a mile and half in 25 minutes and had to rest I was tired out my legs could not handle it any longer. I had to find a place to sit down and rest for 15 minutes. So I am looking at going to the local high school swimming pool and doing lap swim and aerobic swimming a couple times a week.
Do give up .... I had a stall out last month and I actually started adding a extra snack in my diet and it took off again. I have to note it was peanut butter and crackers just before bed time....LoL. I get the Adam's natural peanutbutter that doesn't have any extra sugar and its in its own peanut oil. and dab some on a Ritz cracker or two. Yummy!
Take care,
Tom
FTR, I've read lots of exercise experts saying that what is important is how much you exercise *in a day* rather than in a session and that breaking it up may actually be more effective. So you can most likely do 2 45-min sessions instead of one hour and a half session. I'm doing about an hour a day now bin the afternoons but I'm going to be adding a morning workout too next week to try and get this weight loss going faster. I'm only averaging 2-3 pounds a week. I'd like to be more like 5 pounds a week. I'm going to start off just doing Yoga or Pilates in the AM...nothing too intense, just to get into the habit...and then switch it up to like power yoga some days and more cardio other days.
I am not losing any! I have lost 80lbs and have been stuck at that (going up and down a few pounds) for a month...I am so depressed and scared I am failing at this as I have failed my whole life at losing weight! I tolerate food-but can't find anything real healthy (not a lot of sodium) that I like! I am so upset!!

we all have such an attitude of being a failure. but look how much we have lost. that is hardly failure. even if our bodies said enough right now how much better and healthier we are. plateaus are a natural part of weigth loss. maybe it is our bodies teaching us how to maintain our weight loss. during that time do you still diet, exercise, drink, ? feel good with what you have accomplished. you are not a failure.
you may not be perfect.(but we are not suppose to be), but you are not a failure. God lov ya. and hang in there.
Mine stopped for several weeks because I started workijng out and gaining muscle.. make sure you are eatting and drinking enough.. your body will horde the weight if it likes you are starving to death.. fool it buy eatting what you are suppoised to and drinking lots of water!! remember sip sip sip!!!

Your not alone Anjail! The first few months were unreal with the weight just dripping off - not anymore. For the last 4-5 weeks I have bounced around in the same 4-5 pound range - first down, then up, then down, then back up. IT IS DRIVING ME CRAZY.
The good news though is that I am still losing inches. I have had to stop getting on the scale so much because it is too frustrating. The more frustrated I get - the more I give up.
I've had several long periods of no weight loss - from what I hear - this is completely normal. I am not sure where you are it to your goal - I guess this is normal the closer we get to goal. I only have 30 more lbs to go!
Stay strong - this too shall pass!!
