Ulcers

I have had stomach pains for 2 weeks, accompanied by chest pains. The surgeon directed me to the emergency hospital last Tuesday and they ruled out heart issues. Because the liver and pancreas enzymes were slightly elevated, he scoped my pouch today. They found a large ulcer. He recommended that I discontinue the use of Celebrex (which I had used for my arthritis). He prescribed Protonix and I have to have another scope in 2 months. He checked all the rest of the pouch and everything else is fine. I'm glad I don't have to have surgery. Has anyone else experienced this? Lara

I have had no major troubles to date, but am REALLY glad that there is nothing major wrong with you. ulcers can be managable. keep up the good work. i have lost 98lbs so far. I still have trouble keeping some foods down, but not having surgery complications. hope you are feeling better.

hi lara, well since i had my surgery my complications have been few and far between as well. i too was diagnosed with an ulcer 3 weeks after surgery my entire pouch was black as soot burnt from an ulcer. i still have it, but in all honesty i don't take my meds the way i should. my doc prescribed me previcid, and carafate but i can't handle the carafate. my ulcer can be annoying and there are things it doesn't like one is coffee!! i do still drink it though i'm such a bad girl!! just take your meds and watch what you eat stay away from spicy anything!! if it's lightly spicy i do alright, but anything like chili will put me in the hospital. becareful and you should be fine. kriss 353/252/199
