Hi all. Just wanted to let all know that I could not eat pasta. It made my stomach hurt immediatly. Someone told me to try angel hair pasta. I ate it tonight and had no problem. It was very good and I ate about a cup. If anyone has any ideals to put varity in our diet please let me know. I am sick of chicken. Hope all had a wonderful day and remember we are in this journey together. See all lighter. Joanne

I can't eat anything heavy like that or my stomach hurts. I have just decided to accept it and move on. But that is not an option for most people. I can live without pasta............. it is not a favorite of mine and hasn't been for a long time.

I heard the secret is to over cook the pasta.. I had mac & cheese the other night because I over cooked it.. That way it has swelled all it is going to. I have also learned you have to try new things to see if they still hurt.. I want RED Meat.. but I h ave been told don't even try it for a year.. I do know trying roast beef had me in bed. Linda

WOW-- I eat red meat all the time!! I have problems with chicken, it has to be VERY moist. If you really want to try red meat, try ground beef, fried with all the grease removed. I find that crumbled like this is very easy to tolerate. The only steak I have had is Filet Migeon, it is such a good cut of meat that it isn't grizzly and very tender. Just a couple of ideas~~ Mendy 283/212/150(ish)

Mendy, I heard the same thing. They said buy filet migeon. It is worth the price for the small amount you can eat. Let's face it , we are worth it ourselfs. Thanks for the ideals. All are welcome and appreciated. See you lighter. Joanne

Linda, I will have to check that out for I love macarooni and cheese but can't eat it. As for red meat, I have eaten it. I can't eat much but a hamburger is my favorite. I can eat about a half of one. When did you try the Roast beef? Was it dry? I can't eat anything dry. I do know that feeling of being in bed. Take care and see you lighter. I will let you know when I try the mac and cheese. Joanne

My stomach would hurt before too, with the first bite. I think angle hair must be lighter or something. I do hear where you are coming from. I will not eat it often but my family loves pasta . So when they want it ,we will have angel hair so we all can have some. Take care. See you lighter.Joanne

I can tolerate pasta without any problems at all. Which is great news, since it's my favorite food. I do tend to cook it more than I did before WLS and can only eat about 1/2 cup with lots of sauce and/or veggies. I have a bit of a problem with steak, but since it was never a favorite of mine, I don't miss it too much. I was sick of chicken before WLS and now, I'm REALLY sick of chicken, but it's easy for me to tolerate. Fish and shellfish was always been a favorite of mine and it's easy to tolerate so I'm in luck on that front. I do to eat a lot of the same things over and over again. If it doesn't irritate my stomach and I tolerate it, then it goes on a mental list of foods. I only try things for the first time at home in case it doesn't work out well. Just keep trying new foods and see how you feel. Have a great day, L*

Laura, I know exactly what youy mean. I live at the beach so have eaten alot of shellfish since surgery and I have a mental list too. I really want to try new things but will not eat them other then home. I got a plum at work oneday last week but I wouldn't eat it until I got home. It was my first piece of fruit. Sure enough, my stomach hurt and I went to bed without finishing it. WE will help each other with ideals. See you lighter. Joanne

I think each one of us can eat and tollerate foods differently. I can and do eat lots of red meat. I have a trouble with chicken. I am able to eat some pasta's but try to get the proteins in dailey by eating meats. see i have trouble with eggs. dont know why never had a problem before surgery, but do now.
