So THIS is dumping!!!
Ok, so yesterday I finally dumped for the first time. I'd been kind of unhappy that I seemed to be able to eat anything, including sugar, without too much trouble. But yesterday I pushed it a tad too far, eating 2 oatmeal cookies in about 10 minutes, and then, like a complete dummy, taking 2 bites of an apple danish. Hoo boy. Within minutes I started to feel the worst hot flash ever (and, as I'm 54, I KNOW hot flashes!)... then my digestive system started to hurt... and hurt... and hurt... (like it feels with major constipation). I was at work, no less, so I headed down to the bathroom and sat there in pain, sweating, feeling faint, and then finally the "dumping" action of dumping occurred (yes, I know that's not really what it means, but it's so descriptive!). After a while I thought it was over, so I went back to my office, only to have to run back about three minutes later. I ended up calling my secretary FROM the bathroom stall to tell her I was going home!! When I did get home I went straight to bed and there I stayed. Wow. Well, in some ways I'm glad, 'cause now I will NEVER want to feel THAT way again, so sugar and I will now part ways for my own good! YIKES!

Gail, we have almost the same surgery date and I have not experienced that either. I have had some serious tummy upsets that required plenty of , but none of the other symptoms. I don't often push the envelope, but occasionally have tried some things I thought might do it. As much as I don't want to experience that hell, I do hope to find that I have that as a limiting factor. As bad as it was, you probably feel pretty lucky to be one of the ones who does actually dump.

Hello there, I am so sorry to hear about your misfortune. I dump pretty easily so I know your pain. I can handle "A" bite of something sweet but thats it. Also things that are sugar free but have high sugar alcohol counts i dump on. Like the SF slimfast. Whoooo, I was in the bathroom ALL morning at work and I work at a dentist office. It was pretty embarassing. If I eat something high in carbs I get really tierd. Lathargic tierd. It sucks but is a nice reminder. The one thing I handle really well is cheese, which doesn't make my dietician too happy cause it's high in fat. Regaurdless of the affects I wouldn't change a thing! I still think it's one of the best decisions I have ever made to have WLS! Have a great weekend.....stay away from those apple danishes!!!!!

Its called aversion dieting.... Ive tried a couple of things that I was craving and 5 mins later OH MY GOD. I feel like my chest is going to explode and I feel clammy and faint. The only thing I can do is lay down till it passes. Luckily now I pretty much know my trigger foods, so the experiences are few and far between now. But I have to be careful when trying new foods or food combos.
