Calling NG!
I know your near New Orleans (*I think*, you know my mind ) I just want to be sure you are out of the path of Katrina! Please stay safe, and let me hear from you when you have a minute. My niece is stuck on the interstate now but thats okay, she is on her way back home to Bamaland, until it passes. I know there are ALOT of stranded tourists and those who just can not afford to evacuate, because of their financial situations so ya'll please say a prayer, for those who have no choice, but to ride it out.
Hugs,
Sandy
Thanks for the concern, darling, but we are just fine. There for the Grace of God go I, we are on the left side of the state, and just got some wind and a bit of rain. They moved some of the evacuated people to the civic center here and we are trying our best to help them, because truly next time it could be us.
Where is your niece? Is there any way we can help her? I think it will be a good while before anyone can go across that part of the state. It just goes to point out the need for an interstate highway further inland and interconnecting highway.
Hugs to you and yours, stay safe.

If you have anything that you are wanting to donate to the storm victims, clothes, new toothbrushes etc. Box it up and you can send it to me, and I will drop it off at the civic center............. just put a tape label of clothing size on the front so it is easy for them to know if who can fit into it. Write Katrina Storm Victims on outside of box--- That way we will just take it over there unopened. It will be easier for the Red Cross workers to move it around still sealed until they get it where they can unpack it.
NG!! So HAPPY to hear you were on the other side of the fence, so to speak! my niece was in Kenner. She and her husband and 2 boys, evacuated back to Bamaland and they made it here safely. I guess they will be staying with her parents for the next few months, her house is under 16 ft. of water. All other family is okay except we havent heard from some of my husband's cousin's in Slidell. Its has been YEARS since he had contact with them so he cant even remember thier names, isnt that pitiful.
My hubby was born in New orleans and its still a shock to us, even tho we werent directly involved, still Charity Hospital was his birthplace and seeing it go through so much devastation ( as well as everyone else!) has been hard. I stay glued to Fox news these days, it just breaks my heart. We just got power back on a few days ago, ourself. Otherwise we are fine. I tend to keep a migraine these days so havent been online very much in the last few weeks. Im heading back to the couch now, but will write more asap. So happy your okay!
Love,
Sandy
