Slow Loser
Hey Stacie - 80 lbs is awesome!! I know it can be hard not to focus on the scale but think about how much you lost when you dieted pre-surgery. It had to be slower then the rate you are losing now and in some cases your weight probably was going up rather than down.
I am losing about a couple lbs a week. So far since 4/19 I've lost 52 lbs. The scale has been reading 230 for days. I know the 220's will be here eventually and this time next year maybe the 120's or 130's anyway.. it's going in the right direction.
I agree.. it does get frustrating at times but try not to let it get you down and don't compare yourself to anyone else. As long as you are following the pouch rules, getting in your fluids, taking your vitamins, getting in exercise, etc that is about all you can do. Do the things that are in your control instead of worrying about the things not in your control. Celebrate how far you have come already instead of punishing yourself for how much further you have to go. Think of all the things you can do now that you couldn't do before with those 80lbs on your body!
Good Luck!
I can sympathize with your frustration as I am not the most patient of women, but you are doing wonderfully well. If you were losing any faster, your body wouldn't have a chance to assimilate and your skin will sweep the floor as you walk. Keep your chin up and good luck and you continue your journey.

Hey Stacie ~ That's 20 lbs. a month!!! You're doing great!! I've also lost 80lbs so far. My surgeon said if I was losing any faster, she'd be concerned I wasn't getting enough protein. So like someone already mentioned, do the things you're supposed to, the things you are in control of, and the weight will continue to come off. Keep coming here for support when you feel frustrated!!!

Hey Stace -
Just had to chime in on this thread to let you know I had my RNY 3 days after you and I also have lost 80 pounds, so I think we are losing just the way we are supposed to be and should feel fantastic about it! I liked one of the comments that said "When was the last time you lost 80 pounds in 4 months." I know I can say a BIG FAT Emphatic
N E V E R !!!!! So, we gotta be PSYCHED about what we have accomplished so far! I get completely aggravated and frustrated at my scale sometimes too , but then I look at the big picture and I have to smack myself and say "HELLO??? - Are you kidding? - You're life is changing for the better every day!! Life is GREAT!!!!!!!!" ...... and then I quit my complaining and smile like I haven't smiled in years!!! Hope you can do the same!!!! Drop me a line anytime you need a pep talk or an ear to listen to you vent , because I know we all have bad days and frustrations!
I hope TODAY is a good day!

Hey Natalie -
So good to hear from you! I've been thinking about you too. The only thing I can offer that seems to be true from the many, many stories I've read is the people who are heavier going in lose faster - and as you know, I was a lot heavier than you - so, I think that is the reason. I am up to 83.5 lost this week. I might have lost more, but I'm not even gonna check and drive myself nuts because AUNT FLOW just came into town and you know how that goes for us women!! My 3 month followup with my surgeon is tomorrow morning.....I will post a followup after I hear what he has to say.
What are you able to eat these days Natalie?
Hope all is well and I'm glad YOU are safe!! I'm keeping all of those affected by Katrina in my prayers.......
Take good care,
Gina
