weight loss slow down and stalled
I'm 17 weeks post op and I've only lost eight pounds in the past five weeks. I find it depressing to be slowing down so much so soon. Where's my six month honeymoon period of rapid weight loss everyone talked about?!
Are there others in the April 2005 surgery group who are going through the same slow down? Want to whine with me?
Actually I need a "stomping my foot and kicking things" icon.

Yeah my surgery date was April 14? Last month I had only lost 7.5 pounds. So I am down a bit to say the least but trying hard to eat/drink more protein. I want to see more changes but that's not happening.
So I will whine with you. Let me know if you start increasing your weight loss. And how you made it happen
Thanks,
Christy
I find myself wanting to eat less (go on a diet even!) to start losing again. I have an uncomfortable and irrational need to punish myself as if this slowing weight loss is my fault somehow. I also feel a compulsion to eat cookies since "this isn't working".
I still have stinkin' thinkin' issues.
Good luck to you all who answered. I'm thinking about checking out the February 2005 group to see if things improve at six months post op.

Is there a Echo in here?
Hello everyone, my name is Tom and I am comming up on my 4 month anniversiary and I have stalled out just like all of you. But I have wined on my surgeons board and everyone there says to just keep on doing the protein and water rountine and it will surprise you ONCE again you will start losin'....... I don't believe that at all I got on the scale the other day and I was 3 lbs. heavier then the day before so I increased my water and activity level and I surprisingly I lost the 3 lbs + 1 more, so I guess there is some truth in all what is said about plateau's ..... Darn it I want to lose this NOW!!
OH well like the nurse told me once before, How much did you lose before you had WLS ? I remarked one lb month....Take care
Tom
I've lost 79lbs and I'll be 4 months on the 22nd...I'm THRILLED to say the least BUT I've stalled too. What I suggest is start keeping track of when in the month you're losing weight. I found that the few days before, the week of and a few days after my monthly cycle I either don't lose or I actually GAIN 2-3 lbs. Think about that...that's about 2 weeks out of every month I'm NOT losing anything. Then the other 2-3 weeks is when I lose any weight for that particular month. Now that I'm aware of my personal losing pattern I don't get bummed during those "stalls", I just figure it's how my body works and I can't control it. Sometimes during those weeks I AM losing I've even stalled...upping your protein and water kick starts the losing again.
