Hi Teresa, Carbs are often the culprit. Try cutting them out completely for a little while and see if that breaks the plateau. Lisa

How about your measurements ? Are you losing inches ? Alot of people for get to get out the tape measure and measure their waist, neck, and othr areas of the body. I have only one plateau and that was about a month and half out and I was eating a few more carbs then usual and I backed off the carbs and I started to lose again I have lost a 100 lbs. in 3 monthes, I got another 200 to go to my goal weight of 200. Tom A. starting weight = 536 / currently = 436 / goal = 200.

Hello Teresa, Congrats on your weight loss so far. I have hit a couple of plateaus. One that lasted about 4 weeks. I didn't lose but about 2-3 lbs. I too was very concerned. But I didn't really change anything and then the weight loss kicked in again. I had read previous to having surgery that when you restrict calories your body goes into starvation mode. It believes you are starving and slows your metabolism way down so you don't die because it thinks you are starving. It seems to take a while for your body to realize you are not starving but rather restricting calories so when it finally does you start losing again. That seems to be the case with me. I have lost 77 lbs to date and at this point I am not in a plateau so I am still losing at about 3-5 lbs a week. As long as you are doing the same things you have been I don't think you have much to worry about. As soon as you body catches up with the weight loss I am sure you will start losing again! Best wishes! Carol 302.5/227.5/156

Hi Teresa (((((((((Hugggz)))))) Dont be too hard on yourself. Stick with what the doc and nutrit. said to do and it will keep going. I keep weekly as well as monthly weigh in charts on my profile and other than when I went off the perscribed "diet" and gained 3 lbs......... I can not find any rhyme or reason to the weightloss fluctuations. I have spent **too much** time reading peoples profiles especially the ones who keep weight loss charts trying to figure out the "trends" of weightloss and all I have figured out is : basically on the long term, it will come off if you stick with eating how you have been tought to. On many many profiles I have noticed that between month 3 and 4 the weightloss dramatically slows down (compared to the 1st 3 months) then in ALOT of cases picks up slightly and stays steady for the long haul until you are at or very near goal. The last 20 or so lbs seems like the hardest to lose for most people on here which makes total sense. Have you checked out the weightloss planner on here to see where you stand based on your starting weight, how much you want to lose and your height? I think its pretty cool and I was happily surprised to see I am right on track (I thought I was a slow loser). Also If any one would like a copy of my weight chart on my profile I will be happy to send, just email me. You just copy it then paste it on your prolfile. You have to change all my numbers to yours but its nice to see pattern...if you can figure out one. LOL Good luck to all and congrats on the weight lost so far! Teresa, I am almost 4 months out also. I am down 58 pounds. I will tell you this, one week I was doing Tae Bo (sp??) and the week I did Tae Bo, I actually gained weight. I got so discouraged and started thinking everything you are thinking right now. I was eating right and everything. Then after talking to a personal trainer and my surgeon they both reassured me that I was building muscle mass and muscle weighs more then fat. And that's a good thing!!! So, maybe with your exercise you are building muscle and that could be the reason you are not losing. I have stopped Tae Bo and now work out at a gym 3 times a week. I walk on the treadmill first for 20-30 mins, then do the elliptical for 10-20 mins, then leg exercises, and arm exercises. Then I get in the sauna, pool, and whirpoll. I spend about 2 hours at the gym and feel great afterwards. I am happy to say the weight is coming off. Mix up your routine a little if you can. Walk some days and do ab crunches others. One thing my surgeon suggested was cardio first then toning next or visa versa. The key is finding what works for you. You are doing great and as long as you know that you are doing what you are supposed to be doing then don't worry. Remember, we didn't put the weight on over night and it wont come off over night but, it will come off quicker then we put it on as long as we use our tool. Best of luck to you. Keep up the great work! Gina
