On April 27th I weighed 490lbs. I went to the doctor on Monday and weighed in at 383, for whopping total of 107 lbs. Please note, that those of us who have more to lose than others, seem to lose it faster. It's not where you've been but really where you're going. Even after losing 107 lbs. I still have well over 100 to go. As far as protein, I have powdered whey protein, and I mix it with skim milk, sugar free Nestle's Quick and a few cubes of ice. YUMMY, and it gives me about an extra 20grms. of protein a day. Good Luck, and keep up the good work. I really mean work. Those disbelievers who think we are taking the easy way out, should have been in the hospital with me for 6 weeks, and lived through 3 emergency surgeries.
Always,
Richard
Hello I had my surgery on April 18th - I was at 536 lbs. before surgery I am down to 440 lbs. thats -96 lbs in just over 3 monthes. Ya I go into see my surgeon this morning or Thursday morining for my 3 month check up and I hopin that I am going to over the century mark!! Wish me luck!! I lasted weighed myself on Thursday the 21st of this month, last week so I feel I should surprise my doc.
But I have heard that everyone is different and men seem to loose alot faster then women and the bigger you are the faster it comes off!! Just like
Richard said.
I have not a problem with protein drinks or protein bars, but I can not eat much meats or fish. So I drink alot of protein and the one I have that is good is called "Jim's Permalean" and it comes in 3 flavors Chocalate and Vanilla and very berry flavors. I like them all and they make a geat chocalate bar !! I still have another 200 lbs to go but I would do this in a Heart Beat again .....take care ...Tom Aklestad
I HAD MY SURGERY ON 4/7/05 . I WEIGHED 286 AND AM DOWN TO 230. IN 18 WEEKS. FEELS SLOW TO ME TOO. MY EXPECTATIONS ARE HIGH.
I HAVE INCREASED MY EXERCISE AND MAKE SURE I GET IN ENOUGH PROTEIN(80-100), LOW FATS (LESS THAN 30) CARBS AROUND 70-100. I ALSO TRY TO EAT AT LEAST 1000- 1200 CALORIES A DAY. IF I EAT LESS I DON'T LOSE. I HAVE LOST 6 MORE POUNDS THIS MOTH THEN LAST BY INCREASING MY EXERCISE. I HAVEN'T LOST ANYTHING THIS WEEK SO THIS IS DIFFICULT AND FRUSTRATING. I HAVE SEEN PEOPLE A YEAR OUT AND THE WEIGHT LOSS DOES HAPPEN. IT'S HARD WAITING FOR THE YEAR TO GO BY. HANG IN THERE. OH YAH... DON'T FORGET THE LIQUIDS....................
Hi Janice!
I too had my surgery on 4/4/05! I've lost 75 pounds and feel great...I had some pretty tough going for a while...EVERTHING made me puke!! I can finally eat cheese and fruits and protein bars. I got sick of the drinks when I couldn't eat anything, so now I can't stand them, but the bars I get are at Costco...called Pria...and come in a big box of assorted flavors. I tolerate them very well, so maybe that's an option for you....also cheese and yogurt are pretty high in protein, so maybe try that as well!
Good luck!
Mari
I had my surgery April 4th also! I was 244 the day of surgery and am 212 today so 32 pounds down. I get discouraged from the slow weight loss but I can't exercise much due to a herniated disc that was making my left leg burn constantly. I got it injected a few weeks ago and working back up to exercising. I also discovered I wasn't drinking enough water the hard way........had a kidney stone last week.
