Ok everybody, I need to know how you are doing...
I had my surgery on April 4th, 2005. I weighed 268 at surgery. Today, July 22, I weigh 220. That's a total loss of 48 pounds so far, and I wondered how everyone was doing with the April 2005 surgery, and how you are feeling. Does anyone know a tasty protein drink? I haven't been taking extra protein, and need to. I wonder if other people are losing weight slowly.
Hey Janice,
I had lap band surgery so my guidlines are alittle bit different. I do like the Unjury protein powder(ordered on line). I mix it with 8 oz of skim milk, one scoop of the powder plus I'll add a packet of CIB (carnation instant breakfast) sugar free, fat free; It's delicious and very filling. The vanilla is good with a small amount of orange crystal lite powder (tastes like a creamsickel sp?) Yum. I am not having any problems with getting in my required protein. I will either start or end my day with a protein shake.
Good luck in your journey.
Karen
Hi Janice,
I had my surgery on 4/19/05, I started out at 330 and am now 265 total loss to date 65lb.. awesome....
I use the designer whey, french vanilla...w/skim milk... it says you can make with water but that is gross.. I also drink the isopure zero carb sometimes they are like fruity water... pretty good not great but definitely tolerable.
It's going slow for me because I am still having trouble getting all my liquid and protein.
Happy Loosing.

Hi Janice,
I had surgery 04/19/2005. I started at 263 and now weigh 224 for a total of 39 lbs. I like the IDS protein drinks. Particularly the Belgian Chocolate and Capppuccino. I am also losing very slowly. I limit myself to about 800 calories per day. I get in about 95 grams of protein per day and 100 oz of water. I also exercise at least 5 days a week. My loss has been slow but steady. I fight for every pound. Its good to know that I am not alone in this struggle.

I had my surgery on April 27th, and I have lost a little over 60lbs (thank goodness). I started out at 420, and when i weighed in a couple of weeks ago I was at 360. I can tell I have lost more since then, and people are really starting to notice now. I am excited because I just started a new job a couple of weeks ago, and I am more active, but also because my boss had the surgery done 4 years ago and she looks GREAT. I am so glad that I got a chance to meet her, and now if I have questions, I can go to her. Good luck on finding a good protein poweder. They all taste gross to me...lol.
I had my surgery on April 27th. I started at 279, lost some before surgery and was 261 on the day of surgery. I now weigh 209. Total loss since surgery is 52, and 70 total. Since surgery I have gone from a size 20 to a size 12 in pants!!!
My surgeon and his partners recommend ProComplex protein powder. I absolutely love it! It comes in chocolate, strawberry, vanilla and rocky road. I like the chocolate mixed with water, ice, and 1/2 banana. It has 55, yes fifty-five, grams of protein per two scoop serving. It is available at GNC.

Hi Janice
I have just this minute discovered the April message board. I had surgery the same date as you. 16 weeks tomorrow. I lost 17 lbs pre surgery but only 38/39 since surgery. I feel like an absolute failure. I am sitting here crying because I dont know what else I can do. I have had to fight for every pound that i have lost. Its not like some people stall and then loose all at once, I have gone slowly right from the word go. I have started to up my protein with prodelite very berry from susan maria which is lovely and i also bought pro delite vanilla pineapple which is very sweet but better than others i have tried for sure. I want so badly to loose some weight quickly just so I can feel better about my self but my body wants to hold on to every ounce . I think its because I was bullimic for 19 years and have basically ruined my body. Its nice to find someone else who had surgery on the same day as me tho!!!! Please dont get me wrong. I am happy for those who loose 100lbs etc in this period of time but I want to be one of them too lol
hugs from down under
HELEN
Helen,
Every time I read one of your posts you sound so sad. Don't be! You are losing weight faster than I am and it sounds like our surgeries were the same day. So far, I have lost 33 pounds post surgery and 8 pounds between the consultation date and the surgery date. I keep biting my fingernails feeling like I am the only one that this surgery isn't going to work for. However, I keep measuring myself and slowly but surely my inches are dropping. For some reason, my body just seems to be re-configuring itself. I keep dropping in sizes too. I've gone from a 20/22 jean to a large 14. Keep up the good work and the pounds will leave. Honest. I hope.

Hi Janice:
I had my surgery 4/7/05 My pre surgery weight was 248, I am now at 185. Thats 63 lbs hopefully gone for good. My doc does not suggest protein drinks, but I've been thinking about trying some. He just says that everything that goes in your mouth should be protein. But that does get old. I have had a couple a plateau periods, and drinking water, water, water, seems to get it going again. Everyone has their own pace, you are doing great, remember its inches also. I think that when the weight loss slows down, its your body mass trying to catch up and readjust, which will help with not as much loose skin to deal with. Keep up the good work.

Just me checking in...had surgery 4-18-05 and started at 310 and down to 241.5 total loss in 3 months of 68.5 pounds. I am hoping to be at 70 before my 3 month check-up with the surgeon on the 28th!!!
Protein is going well. I really do not have a problem with anything but my dorcot does recommend the Advant Edge carb control shakes 100 calories and 15 g. protein per shake. You can get them just about anywhere. I like the chocolate fudge and the caramel cappuccino (sp?)
I am so excited for everyone's weight loss KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK EVERYONE!! A pound lost is better than nothing lost and nothing lost is better than ANYTHING GAINED!!! You are making adjustments and it all takes time!!
Love to all you LOOOOOOSSSSSEEEERRRRSSSS!!
