I hit a plateau around 9 weeks post op and stayed there for a good two weeks. Then just as quick as it started it ended. My doc said every once in a while your body has to take a breath from losing so much so fast. Just keep at it, you'll be losing again in no time! Jen

Hi Elizabeth, I've had a couple of plateaus, they last for a few days to a few weeks and can be very frustrating. But ultimately the bod figures out that it's not experiencing famine and starts letting go of it's extra fat. It's very normal to not lose weight when you're not eating. When the physiology catches up, it'll start again

Hi Elizabeth, I had my surgery April 26th and I have officially hit a plateau. I am 300 lbs. and up until now, I have rapidly lost. It's been 2 weeks now since I've lost anything. I am not gaining, but I'm not loosing either. I have lost 52 lbs. so far. I was hoping this wouldn't happen after seeing everyone's post about how it does happen, but I figured this would be about the time as I have been watching everyone and seeing which weeks its happening at. I'm not happy, but I'm not freaking out either. I am SO darn happy about what I've lost so far that I can handle a few weeks set back. I'm trying to jump start it with more water, more protein and MORE MORE MORE exercise. I'm doing 150 crunches a day and 4 miles (2 in the morning and 2 in the evening), and water aerobics 4 times a week. I am SO anxious about being in the 2's! It's frustrating seeing 300, 300, 300 over and over! I cannot complain with how well I have been doing thus far and I am grateful for that. Try not to worry or fret too much, you can try and jump start with upping your protein intake and drink your water! You will start loosing again and be back on track to being a LOSER!! Purrs, Dee~

Oh my gosh! ME TOO! I thought, okay, I'll just do more aerobics, run more, do more pilates and spend more time lifting weights... HA. THe jokes was on me, cuz the scale didn't move. Thankfully it really hasn't moved up, but would enjoy either seeing it move down or have my clothes fall off of me because I lost inches... Oh well. PS: I split my time too, morning runs on the treadmill and evening treadmill with swimming. Feel very frustrated, too

i am 13 weeks out and have hit a plateau during the second month then again last month. frustrating. i seem to loose weight one week out of the month and then stall. i started some extra exercising this month hope it keeps my weight loss going. i stall for the two weeks around my period and then the next week need to loose the 5 pounds i gained during my period. not easy not getting depressed about it. but it seems to be the way i am loosing. 50# of so far. glad i at least have that much off. hang in there. maybe increase the protein and exercising. i do better wit h75-100 gms of protein. this month any way...................

Hi Elizabeth, I am 10 weeks out have hit a plateau myself. I started at 345 and am down to 287, but that hasnt budged in 2 weeks! Ive been working out and barely eating, seeing as how I still cant tolerate a lot of things yet. Thank God for protein drinks! I do know I have to work harder on getting all my H2O in. We just have to wait it out I guess...but its frustrating as all get out!!!

Funny how we loose weight. Some days I can loose 2lbs and then nothing for a week or more. So many factors - retaining water, plateaus, muscle gain, etc. Honestly I don't really drive myself too crazy over the scale weight. I am doing the things I need to be doing and the weight is going in the right direction. Prior to WLS it would take me ages just to loose a few lbs. Don't worry.. it will come off. Do the things you have control over - drinking all your fluids, eating the right foods, exercise, following the rules. I started on 4/19 at 5'4 - 280lbs. I'm about a week away from my 3 month post op and down 41 lbs - scale today was 239. I am so thrilled with the results. I'm down from a size 22-24 to a size 16. I feel wonderful, energetic, and optimistic. Keep in mind that people who start out at higher weights will loose more rapidly usually. Try not to compare yourself to others. Go by how you feel and how your clothes fit. As long as you are exercising and following the other rules you are doing great! Good Luck!

Elizabeth, I had my surgery 4/19. and I am on my 2nd plateau. I am stuck at 50 pounds for two weeks now, the scale won't budge. It is VERY annoying. So I can relate with you. Good luck with the scales Kristy 233/183/135
