Hi Nikki, I had my surgery on 4-20-06. I have gotten to the point that I eat foods I like but small quantities of course. I don't deprive myself of anything. I think that to have life term success you have too. I have cut back on pork and fried food but I will have a little bit. I had KFC last week for the first time and though I love the skin I peeled it off. Enjoyed a little mash and cole slaw. My breakfast food is oatmeal or bran cereal but for lunch or dinner I have whatever I make for the family.

Hi Nikki, I just read your post on the April board and I am a bandster too. Had my lapband on 4-25. I am having the most difficulty with water. On a good day, I eat three a day. I rarely eat bread, potatoes, rice, or pasta. I mostly have salads with some sort of meat (chicken or beef), I still have protein shakes because they're easy, a good source of protein and they fill me up. I haven't lost any weight in several weeks. I've had one fill in my Vanguard band (3cc's) and will have another fill in about 10 days. The problem with the water is in the timing. It seems that I am not too good with getting breakfast in so by the time I get around to actually eating breakfast it's sometimes lunch time. Then I have to wait until I can drink water, but I'm usually full and don't have room to drink. It's a cycle I have to break. I think when I wake up in the morning, I better keep a bottle of water at my bedside or in the bathroom and drink, drink, drink. Are you doing well with the band. I'm a little dissappointed with myself for my lack of progress, but I know that it's in my hand to follow the protocol set forth by my doctor. So tomorrow is another day and I will start it with a nice bottle of water. Let me know how you are doing with your band, fills, etc. Thanks, Karen holding steady -27 pounds
