throwing up

I seem to be developing a habit of throwing up frequently. I think its because of chewing but I am not sure. Chicken seems to be the worst, but I have had problems with beef and fish. I went camping this weekend and we had chicken breast grilled. I ate only 1/4 of a breast and got instantly sick and eventually lost all of it. If I eat soft foods I an ok, but anything like meat hurts my pouch. Its very painful. Is this normal? Do I have a problem? Does anyone have any ideas? Should I call the Doctor? Thanks. Pat

I would recommend not eating meat for about a week, try eating the veggie meats for a little while, I used Morning Star Farms chicken patties and the Boca burgers. They have good protein amounts and I had no problem tolerating them. Also make sure you chew chew chew....and bites should be no bigger than a pencil eraser.

I seem to not be able to eat grilled meat yet ... I can eat about 1/2 a burger or chicken breast but about 1/2 hour later it is coming back up.. I think it is the grilling.

the only time i seem to throw up lately is if i eat too fast and don't chew enough. slow down and take your time.

Keep an eye on this.......It could be a stricture...I started vomiting as soon as i introduced "chewable foods" such as meat.....I was fine with things like crackers, but anytime i introduced a new food such as ravioli or a new meat...I would be fine for about an hour and then I would vomit, not just once. I would be sick for hours after. Sometimes for 4-5 hours. It was awful. My Doctor did a scope on me and sure enough, I had a stricture. He repaired it, and now i am doing much better. I still get sic****asionally, but no where near as much or as bad. My Doctor says a stricture usually occurs about 6 weeks out......You may not have one, but keep an eye it and if it doesn't get better soon...tell your Doctor. Good luck.. Cindy

Well I am about 10 weeks now but the vomiting started when I started chewable foods too. I will keep an eye on it. Today I had a good day but I did not eat any meat. Thanks to all for the posts. Pat

Hi Pat, Watch for excessive vomitting, you may have a stricture. Don't eat meat for a few days, try some veggie burgers such as Morning Star products and Boca burgers, all these are really good for you and have LOTS of protein! I don't eat red meat so this is my favorite stuff to make when were grilling. I don't vomit at all unless I eat TOO fast or dont chew my food enough. Purrs, Dee~

I had trouble with meat early out and discovered that I had to eat it REALLY REALLY moist-- like soaking the chicken in chicken broth-- for a while. Slowly I weaned myself off that and now can eat almost all kinds of meat-- however, I do have more problems with "grilled"-- not enough fat left for moisture, I think. I have to make sure to chew, chew, chew and then chew some more. Getting anything stuck hurts like the Dickens! Also, be careful that you are not accidentally eating too much at one time-- dense foods like meat take a lot less to fill the pouch than soft foods. Good luck! ~Marra

Pat, I have had 2 endoscopys so far due to vomiting. I had a stricture and then developed an ulcer just below the pouch. Must be from the vomiting. I can handle a little chicken thigh but no red meats at all. And I have to eat so little..it amazes me. Even now. Julia

Pat .. i can totally relate . about 3-4 weeks out i was not able to eat anything solid cause it would cause sever chest pain and i would throw up! They did and EGD scope and now i can eat pretty much everything.... when they put the scope in it openeed up my pouch jsut a a touch.. enough so that it now doesnt hurt to eat. also might try sticking with meats that aren't dry i hear that helps too.
