Slow
Argh. First of all, I know I'm not doing what I'm supposed to do. I'm not exercising regularly, and I'm not getting in enough protein. I"m also grazing instead of eating regular meals, and I'm pretty sure I'm not getting in enough calories, however many that's supposed to be. My doc doesn't have a nutritionist in his program, so I should probably go hunt one on my own. I started at 382 on surgery date of April 15. I lost about 50 pounds the first 8 weeks or so. Now, in the last 3 to 4 weeks, I've lost maybe 5. Argh. Also, I had a few Oreos, and I didn't get sick!!! Dammit! Yes, I'm wallowing in pity and stupidity over here. Did I mention that I'm also weaning myself off Paxil, and my over-critical mother lives with us? ARGH!!!! Ok. I'm done for now. I'll get back on the wls horse and try again.
Thanks,
Stacie

Hi Stacie,
I know firsthand what it's like getting off Paxil, if you don't do it a certain way, it's nightmarish.
Slowing down is normal. Your body adjusts to the loss. Stay away from Oreos, fats and junk no matter how bad you want it. Make sure there are things you can grab and eat on hand when you feel the urge to be naughty.
Best, Lisa
You poor thing, i have tried to wean off of paxil and I just can't do it! I hate that little pink CONTROLLING pill. I too can eat small bits of sugar like two cookies and things like that but remember why you did this surgery. You need to take control of yourself now more than ever. Start with a protein shake for breakefast protein bars for snack, lean cusines for lunch and a health dinner. There is nothing that can make you do this but you. Make yourself walk once a day. I don't care for exercise at all but i make myself get out and walk 1-2 miles a night. I didn't go through all of this for nothing and I'll be damned if I don't let this work for me. You can do this Stacie, you just need to get in the right mind frame. Good luck with everything.

Thanks ya'll. It's so nice to have your support. The Paxil thing is killin me, but I'm determined to get off. I hate taking something I don't need anymore just because it's so difficult to get off. I'm definitely getting on an exercise and eating schedule - I really think that's my main problem right now. I don't have a schedule of any kind.
Thanks again, and good luck to all you in your wl!

Hi Staci,
I don't know anything about the paxil withdrawl, but I can tell you about grazing.. I am guilty.... I went to see a dietician friday and she set me up with an eating plan and I think it is helping. I even had energy yesterday to get out and walk.. I walked a whole mile.. may not seem much.. but is was for me... Give it a try.. Good luck

Hello Stacie,
We share the same surgery date. I too am having the same problem I try not to let it bother me cause I know it will soon pass but I have not lost anything in almost 2weeks. I try but I too think I am not eating enough I also don't have a nutritionist. So I do it all alone.
This is not the first bump I have hit since surgery and probly wont be the last they just suck when you see no movement on the scale..
So all I can say is be patient do what your suppose and this will go away. Your not alone. . I wish you all the luck.
Alice
Hi there I had my surgery on 04/07/05 I had a starting weight of 242 and I have lost about 68 lbs. so far. Yes I do most of what I am suppose to the excerising thing hmmmm I don't do but the other I sure try. First of all I would not go off the paxil right now your body is doing enough changes I am also on it. BUT I am going to talk with my family dr. about switching to a diffrent anti depressant because Paxil will make you gain weight my daughter who is post op of 2 yrs. was on it and her ob/gyn took her off that to another kind that she won't gain weight with. I will find out the name for you... Now when it comes to Protien I found the BEST go to GNC and but liquid protien it is fruit flavored I mix it with crystal light it taste great so you won't have a problem getting in your daily intake that way and hopefully you won't loose your hair either. If you would like to talk more e-mail me at [email protected]... Have a good day. Cindy
Thanks so much you guys! I love this forum! I've been meticulously documenting everything I eat for the past 2 weeks, and the scale is moving again! It's helped me realize where the problems are - grazing on carbs, not enough protein, no eating schedule - and fixing them. Also, I'm going to the gym and working on the elliptical machine, which I feel good about.
WLS isn't a magic pill, is it? However, it is a huge boost and motivator. Like all of you, I did not put myself through all this for it not to work!
