I've noticed when i eat certain foods that have a tendency to get them stuck in my throat, grilled chicken, pork chops. It doesn't stop there my bowels cramps so bad. I was just hospitalized for three days and many test were runned upper gi, colon test and they couldn't find anything wrong. I wonder if it was that My body still can't tolerate un pureed foods. Does anyone else have this problem?

I don't eat chicken or any solid pieces of meat. I do make a lot of things with ground beef and turkey and tolerate those fine. Something about the muscle and sinew in filets, chops and roasts just isn't agreeing with us yet. But there's no reason to stay on pureed foods. There are a lot of things you can eat - chewing is the key. Anything that's getting stuck in your throat was a bite and swallow that was too big. Take tiny tiny bites and chew until there is nothing left. I've been eating a lot of salads which I used to not like at all. My tastes have totally changed Lisa

I too have had trouble with the chicken, pork, and beef products. My dr told me that our stomachs are still in the healing phase for 3-6 months post-op. I know that sounds like a long time, but just think how short it is in the whole scheme of life. After it heals, our bodies should be down in the weight, and we will be much healthier for having waited. I dont have to eat pureed foods, but I really do have to watch EVERYTHING I eat. I am unable to eat salads yet, but looking forward to it. Keep up the good work.

Wow. 3-6 mos. That really puts things in perspective. I guess we just have to concentrate on the rules and eat what we can. I have a stricture again so solids are difficult. Unfortunately, I can eat carbs easily. Trying to concentrate on protein, but..well, beans, cheese..but cheese is hard for me, too. I will have an endoscopy again friday to open it up alittle. The last time I was able to eat almost a whole chicken thigh and not vomit an hour later. Julia

I must admit, that usually I stick with protein drinks, cheese slice on crackers, and yogurt. If I eat carbs I lose nothing. (I only eat 3 crackers with my slice of cheese and don't eat it every day.) But I found that I can eat steak, when we go out, I eat a few bites, then bring the meal back and one of my teenagers eats it the next day. I can also eat 2 chicken nuggets from a kiddie meal......... such a boring food life, I admit.
