So here I am 2 months post op and reading all of your great profiles and postings about what you are and are not able to eat, and I am still here struggling badly. I have lost 53lbs (according to drs scale this morning) so that isnt the bad part, but I have been throwing up ALOT. I spoke with the dr about it in his office today and he said that it is perfectly normal because for the first 3-6 months post op your body is still recouperating. I even threw up some fresh blood last week, and that worried me horribly, so when I called the dr he told me to go back onto a liquid diet for a few days. I HATE THE LIQUID DIET.... after having had to be on it for 3 weeks, I can hardly stand to look at a yogurt container, jello container, and HATED the protein drinks. The hardest part for me is that I get dry heaves afterwards. I have been being very careful about making sure I chew chew chew, and eat slowly, and I KNOW its not because I am eating too much, because I can take only one or two bites of something and have it not stay down. The dr said he doesnt think it is a stricture or anything like that, just thinks that my tummy is still healing. I get SOOOO hungry sometimes, but really scared to eat anything for fear of . So congrats to all of you who are able to eat mostly anything you want. I look to all of you for inspiration that I too one day will be able to eat somewhat normally again and hopefully no more . KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK EVERYONE....IM PROUD OF ALL OF YOU.

Ask him to do an endoscopy anyway. I could not eat solids..or I could eat them then an hr later I would start on the water and then I would have to spit for an hour (after only a couple of sips) and then I would throw up. Awful. I called my doc and he did the endoscopy and said the stricture was TINY..he couldnt get over it..LOL. So I dont see why he says it is not a stricture. Julia

I second the above post. Ask him to do an endoscopy anyway. I had same thing, same symptoms, and yes it was a stricture. It is always possible, that it's not a stricture and that you are just not very tolerant of things, but it's such an easy procedure and easy fix if it is the problem. Jen

I'm with you sweetie! I still have difficulty eating without pain or nausea. I throw up but not always spontaneously, meaning sometimes I have to so that I can get out of misery. I have had 4 endoscopys for strictures and I'm still having problems. About the only things I can tolerate are sugar free popsicles and how much protein can you possibly get from those????? I'm very envious of all the people that can eat and enjoy, it's been a VERY difficult trip for me. Sounds like for you too. I'm sorry you're going through this. Sometimes food smells so good I just want to eat, but I know if I do it will come up or sit there like a ton of rocks waiting to come up. I wish there was a magic cure. Maybe someday. I would think that after 4 endos I'd be cured. God Bless, Laura

I too know how frustrating it is to hear everyone talk about eating and recipes, etc. I have had two strictures repaired and still continue to throw up on at least a daily basis. I have spent a lot of time thinking it was "me", having developed an aversion to food. When it got too tough I went to the doctor and both times had strictures. I love my weight loss, about 50 pounds, but am frustrated by not being able to eat and subsequently not having the energy to exercise. Soups are my salvation, even chili. I'm good with beans in any form, refried, baked, soup, etc. I hope we both make great improvements soon. Mary
