whatcha eating?
I had surgery a week after you, and I have been doing pretty good. I can eat beef, and some chicken (in soups). I do still have troubles with lots of foods though. I can usually tell within the first 5-10 minutes if it will stay down or not. I found that if I take a good quality steak, and instead of grilling it or broiling it, if I cut it into little cubes and tenderize it really well, and lightly spray a pan with some pam, that as long as I chew chew chew i can tolerate it. I am also able to eat those protein bars and granola bars (Chewy). My problem has been that I wasnt getting enough protein or enough calories in during the day according to the dr. I am working hard at that now. I have lost over 40 lbs so far. I get discouraged at times when i see how much others have lost, but then i think to myself, 40+ lbs is more than i have lost at any one time in my entire life, and thats weight thats gone for good. Take care and good luck on your weight loss.
I can not eat chicken too well beef has been the only meat I can tolerate. I bought the protein bars but yet to try them .I got granola bars too I eat one honey & oats. What is the kind you eat? 40 lbs is alot congradulationsI too get discouraged but I look good and feel good and I see the change in me. Good luck to you also and I am glad you responded..

Hi Alice
I had my surgery April 5, 05- Meat is very hard for me to eat. I have only been able to eat small amounts (about 1 oz) at any one meal, just intro'd beef yesterday! I was too afraid to try it with the pain I experienced from others. I still use protein drinks and bars are a life saver- I like zone and Atkins the best. I work out side alot and can't carry anything with me but a drink- and keep a [protein drink] with lemonade or tea. The drink I order from [a nutrition store] - it's a fruity drink - so it's not like a shake or anything. Makes my day easier and it has 40 grams of protein per 20 oz. So once I finish my jug- it usually takes me all day. I know I have gotten in my minimum (including breakfast).I still don't really have a desire to eat- BUT I love to cook and smell it! but forget eating- they say this goes away at 6 months- I hope not. I am very happy with everything at this point. I experience discomfort when I try to eat too fast or not chew enough- and it's a great reminder. I am glad to find people who had surgery around the same time. It would be nice to stay in touch of progress. I don't always get a chance to get on the computer more than once a week at home- but I will look for your name- good luck!
I had surgery on 4/11/05 and there are many things I can't eat including meat, fish, chicken, protein shakes(make me puke).so I have a limited menu.yogurt, cheese ,beans,sm amt salad, tuna salad. It's great I don't have much appetite.Thats the best part I agree, but I also don't dump with sugar.(bad).I also don't eat or like protein bars.I've lost 42lbs,but none in the last week.I just go day by day.Good luck on your journey. Hello, I have been eating the South Beach bars for breakfast. I like the cinnamon one and the peanut butter and choc. one. I cannot tolerate beef, chicken works just fine, tuna with light mayo, I love the south beach lunchable wraps (they are also high in protein) The weigh****chers cereal is good, cottage cheese is high in protein and also sting cheese. I can't eat any creamed soups, including my favorite clam chowder. I am getting over it though. So there you have a few of my meals. I am only down about 38 pounds but it's more than I have lost in a long time so I am not complaining.

I had surgery April 26th and have just about eaten anything I want to without dumping (a curse). I dont eat meat, but I have had veggie crumbles in a dozen different recipes and they go down very well! I make sloppy joes with the crumbles with some red kidney beans added for extra protein with a little pinch of taco seasoning. I put a dollop of FF sour cream on top. Its delicious!! I have been eating a lot of vegetables in a lot of different ways. I make string beans, chik peas and lima beans with balsamic vinegar and light olive oil which is awesome. I LOVE sweet potatoes and carrots. Im eating cheese everyday, even if its just a slice inbetween meals with 2-3 wheat thins. I do eat fish and I love Gordon's grilled fish fillets( NO batter!). They come in Garlic Parm. and Garlic Butter. I can only eat a few teaspoons, but they are very good. Crabmeat salad with celery and FF miracle whip is very good also. I try to keep it simple but different each day so I dont get bored..it takes time but its worth it.
Purrs,

Well, between the fact that I'm a very picky eater and that I'm not much interested in food these days, this will be boring! I'm 10 weeks out. In the morning I have Unjury and Crystal Light. Then when I get to work, I have yogurt, and more Unjury and Crystal Light for lunch. Midafternoon, a string cheese. Oh, and some almonds to snack on. For dinner, I usually have a glass of Lactaid with SF Nesquick, some reduced fat cheezits, and sometimes a Luna bar. Once a week, we order pizza and I have a slice (thin crust, light cheese). That's been pretty much it for the past several weeks. Oh, and wheat chex.
I also occasionally have (when my interest in food is a little higher) turkey bacon, ham, muenster cheese melted on half an english muffin, SF nutty buddy, cucumbers, a few chips, an M&M or two.
Like I said, boring.
